Musk is moving forward from killing monkeys to killing people.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago

more people.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 30 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Death cult. No joke here, no hyperbole. Death cult.

EDIT: To me, starting with people with paralysis and taking advantage of their desperation to do underegulated shit that already caused untold suffering and death to primate subjects is still death cult shit in the way it's tricking people into false hope and sloppy pseudoscientific "experiments" for the sake of the fever dreams of the cult leader.

[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Neuralink said in a blog post that it was looking for people who had paralysis in all four limbs because of a spinal-cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Hey business insider you really buried the lede there. The opening makes it seem like they’re just talking about bazinga brained morons

[–] Venus@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think if I'd lost the use of 90% of my body I'd be extra protective of the 10% that still works and not eager to let melon-musk sloppily jam some dangerous shit in there

They're still bazinga brains

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Honestly, I think being trapped in your body might be a motivating factor to try anything.

[–] MattsAlt@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Hey now, one of those blinded ape freaks could get hit by a truck and qualify soon

[–] Aryuproudomenowdaddy@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Don't worry, the 40 year olds getting this chip will be near the end of their life spans so if they die it will be from natural causes.

[–] GriffithDidNothingWrong@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Could you imagine if it worked? And it was the human instrumentality project made up of bazinga-brained redditors? What a wondrous and grotesque being would be born. I cannot imagine a more fitting ending for this accursed species

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

It all ends, not with a bang, or a whimper, but a le epic fart sound so-true

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

We can't blow up the first three. That's not an option here

We will blow up the first 3 million like that scene in Kingsmen melon-musk

[–] jaeme@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Heard of nonfree software? How about nonfree people?

[–] tamagotchicowboy@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

Then company goes under or deems your implant non-profitable and stops supporting it and now your brain implant software doesn't work. That's already a thing with other medical devices.

Is "Shivon Zilis" a normal name somewhere? I can't tell if my brain is rotting

[–] What_Religion_R_They@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

you made me look her up and wtf did i just read

Elon Musk and Neuralink manager Shivon Zilis decided to have children together after the tech mogul spoke to her about his population doomsday fears

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

Musks weird breeding fetish is so disgusting

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

after the tech mogul spoke to her about his population doomsday fears

Planetwide catastrophe imminent, therefore must individually breed with lumpy apartheid prince galaxy-brain

[–] tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is this a eugenics thing? Like I'm sure some of his supporters actually believe his genes are important for humanity and need to be passed on. I wouldn't be surprised if more than a few of his fans would think a crisis killing millions of people would be great because we could repopulate with billionaire DNA, who obviously have the -b e s t- genes.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

That was the implied part of the take of that one extremely reddit-logo youtube infographic series (Kurzgesagt I think) that used to do pop science interest videos but decided to bootlick for Bill Gates and started doing "billionaires ruling over us are cool and good actually" takes and the capstone of that propaganda was the climate collapse video that announced that it would be "a victory for humans" if even 1% of the world population survived because that would magically mean the world is somehow inhabitable again (instead of continuing whatever death spiral killed 99% of people) and that the elect 1% would reach the stars and otherwise attain science victory win conditions like in the 4x treats. morshupls

How about "Chiveon Zilis"

[–] G_Bookner@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

Whenever I read about this shit I always have to think about Adam from Doctor Who.

[–] TheDialectic@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

I have to struggle to not feel liberal emotions about the worst reddit brained people on earth linking up to have their brains literally melted for a change.

[–] Chef_Boyardee@lemm.ee 8 points 2 years ago

Let me grab my popcorn...

[–] RedQuestionAsker2@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Anyone else notice that the thumbnail looks exactly like no-mouth-must-scream ?

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

First thing I thought of

[–] stigsbandit34z@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

It’s so wild to me how an endeavor like this (if it even actually becomes a thing) is in the hands of the private industry instead of, idk, fucking brain surgeons

[–] usernamesaredifficul@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

reasonably sure that brain surgeons wouldn't touch this with a ten ft pole

[–] stigsbandit34z@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

Ben Carson maybe

[–] Luisp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 years ago

Literally the Pied Piper

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

aren't there like laws against this or something. It feels like he shouldn't be allowed to do this

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Great. I fully support them. I am glad for them. I can't wait to see what will happen (many bad and annoying techbros will die and the world will be better for it, and no one has to get their hands dirty because they did it to themselves, enthusiastically). I salute their contribution to science (I do not salute their contribution to science)

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

I think a lot of truly desperate paralyzed people will be sold a false hope here and will get drawn in that were otherwise not bazinga cultists.

[–] SnAgCu@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

This is going to go so well.

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Based. The NFT era was terrible but was redeemed with the downfall era. I’m expecting good things from this, i.e. I hope they fail in the most grotesque way

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

A lot of desperate paralyzed people that otherwise would not be bazinga cultists are likely to suffer and die from these Wish.com Mengele "experiments" that lack scientific rigor or regulatory protections.

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I'm watching a Therac-25 before my eyes

And some of you have ZERO empathy what the actual fu--oh, hexbear. That explains some things.
