Right now, I’m playing the early access version of Baldurs Gate 3. I’m getting ready to put it down (frustrated: BG3 has the potential to be good, but without controller support, I’m getting really frustrated with the UI. ) and switch to Yakuza Like a Dragon.

What are you playing now and what are you looking forward to playing next?

I'm not so active with mine at the moment since I have a desktop computer, but back when I was recovering from a knee injury away from home, it was not just most of my gaming, but also my personal computer for most tasks, via a USB-C hub hooking it up to the keyboard and monitors I was using for work. I ended up completing a personal image editing project using GIMP installed in its desktop mode.

It has been an interesting mix of things for me in the last few weeks. I have been playing a few Metroid games simultaneously. I never finished Prime 2 or 3 back in the day, so I'm revisiting Prime 2 currently and got past the boss that I got stuck on back in the day on my first try, so that felt good haha. Metroid 2 is one of the only Metroid games that I haven't played yet, so I started AM2R also.

I also randomly got into Soul Calibur 6 this weekend, which runs great on the Deck besides load times being a bit longer than I expected, but it's fine overall. I loved Soul Calibur 2 back in the day, so I have been going between both of those. The cool thing about fighting games is that they seem to age well as long as the mechanics are solid, so I think that SC2 still holds up very well today. It even has a native widescreen option, so it scales nicely to the Steam Deck's display.

I also picked up Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 a few days ago for just a few bucks, so I'm playing that sometimes too for variety. Street Fighter 6 releasing and now the Mortal Kombat I reveal has me playing some fighting games again apparently. It's a pretty healthy time for that genre right now.

Raises hand playing God of War 2018. Think I’m going to play Bulletstorm next. Not enough time to play all the games I’d like to.

It has become my Dinkum machine. So great to have a system you can just suspend and pick back up again. Aside from that I've been playing Cult of the Lamb on it. The deck seems to be the perfect fit for indie games.

Playing Persona 5 Strikers and constantly feeling withdrawal as I want to get to NEO:The World Ends With You after playing the DS original. Which I feel like is in the spirit of patient gaming, because while the game is like 2 years old, I got into this situation for playing a 15 year old game.

I got Drakenguard 3 running on rpcs3 recently so I've mainly been playing that. Also been playing Pokemon infinite fusion.

I tend to prefer games that aren't as heavy on the deck and stuff like cyberpunk and Elden ring better on my main rig.

I've been emulating Mario Party Superstars and Mario Kart 8. Yuzu's multiplayer is amazing!

Mostly retro games. Retroachievements is amazing, and creates an entire new dimension to retro games. I've been score chasing a bunch of Atari 2600 games as evening entertainment.

As for Steam games, Neon White is pretty good. I've also been playing Hifi Rush, but have gotten stuck on a battle that I can't seem to beat.

Mostly modded Skyrim on my Deck (enchanted weapons build), but the majority of my time lately has been playing Tears of the Kingdom on the Switch.

I’m waiting to play BG3 until after it fully comes out. I don’t have a lot of free time as it is, and I’d rather not play through the first part of the game multiple times right now.

I managed to avoid playing Skyrim for over a year(I have played it on every platform I have owned) but a sale got me...

I've recently started working my way through the Telltale Games and Don't Nod back catalogues. Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People is great fun, and Life Is Strange Before The Storm plays really well too. :)

Octopath travelers 2 and hifi rush.

I used to, does that count? I'm still an avid linux gamer, but mine was just sitting unused compared to my desktop before I decided to sell. Either way, currently playing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on Yuzu. Hasn't been exactly smooth sailing but overall it's been pretty good. The main issues are the emu being so new (bugs) and not having an idea what mods and settings are best for my particular hardware, and TBH steamdeck is great in this area since they're all the same platform aside the storage.

Happy to be here. Vampire survivors for me, lol.

Wanna get into God of War, though

[–] chrno@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Currently playing Diablo 4 if I have internet access, Otherwise going through old SNES JRPGs

[–] sirfig@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

As I don't own a playstation I am playing the horizon zero dawn game, it is quite good. I will probably then play the final fantasy remake.

[–] Mendamigo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Alien Fireteam Elite! Runs very well on the Deck.

[–] Skyline969@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Recently set up EmuDeck, so the real question is what am I not playing? Jokes aside, currently taking a break from the Deck for D4 (wanted better graphics and smoother framerate so I went with PS5). Will probably grab it on PC when there's a sale just to be able to play it on the go... well, wherever wifi is available.

Other than that it's been mostly "Fuck Around With Tweaking the OS and Settings to Get Games Just Right and Then Never Actually Play Them" Simulator. Windows 11 runs surprisingly smooth off of just a MicroSD card.

I'm currently really into playing Mount & Blade Bannerlord on the Steam Deck, but I use it for just about everything these days. Between my whole Steam library and emulators that can play all the games I grew up with, it's like having my whole gaming lifetime in a tiny portable machine.

[–] WrenofDelpan@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I've been kind of slow to play anything on my deck. Right now I've just been emulating a ton of Nintendo games. Currently working on Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door

[–] CaptainEffort@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I got mine last July, and it’s quickly become my favorite “console” of all time. Rn I’m playing Fallout New Vegas and emulating some older Monster Hunter games.
