This is honestly my favorite place in the entire world. Summer, Fall, Winter, it doesn't matter, if you ever get a chance to visit Japan, this is where you should hike. Starting at Yumoto hot springs, you walk through a pristine, dark, claustrophobic forest and past two beautiful hidden lakes, and then finally the whole world opens up into this amazing mountain valley that's in the picture. Then you hike up a sheer cliff and go a couple more kilometers and I shit you not there's this refreshment stand in the middle of nowhere that sells ice cream made from milk straight from the cows on the farm next door. It's one of the most surreal, amazing experiences I've ever had.

Honestly, breathtaking. I'm getting lost just looking at the photograph. Has definitely been added to my Japan travel bingo card.
