Don't let this 4 - 1 Chelsea win distract you from the fact VAR let a lot slide in favor of Tottenham. It was just that the idiocy of Tottenham overran the leeway given by the referees. Udogie and Romero should have been sent off before the 23rd minute.

They chalked off three goals for Chelsea too.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

To be fair, one of those goals led to the penalty that they scored their first from, but yea

Tottenham lose and Mudryk gets humiliated by his own teammate, couldn't have asked for much more.

Glad to see Shit get knocked off their perch.

I'm gonna be real, anyone who thinks that the media doesn't hate us should surely be convinced by now. Wtf you mean "Arteta is a Mercedes version of Neil Warnock"

That's an actual headline of an actual news site.

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm actually just disillusioned by the whole state of football in the UK. No wonder Klopp airs his grievances so much.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

time for another secession, new premier league time

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm not hoping for a Super League to be honest, I just want the whole football pyramid to be gutted and investigated

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nah I just mean to get rid of the PL people in charge — though tbh PGMOL would probably still remain the same.

I wouldn't want an actual super league the way they proposed it, but threatening it in exchange for PGMOL reforms would be nice.

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can't go down that road again. It's really like US politics, tribalism is holding us back from real reform

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

In my eyes it's basically like a strike. Otherwise what power do clubs have?

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

correction, not a headline, but it is the line they quote on Twitter instead of the headline

so fuck them

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm just so tired of the discourse that I actually don't give a shit about today's game. I think I probably need to take a break from football or at least the EPL.

[–] nuggsy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Take care of yourself. The football will always be here :) (probably unchanged though... lol)

[–] SoupACabra@lemmy.wtf 4 points 2 years ago

Not even back from injury and Brazil wants its best striker ready for whatever fuckery they have in schedule

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Manchester United fans need to shut the fuck up about "stealing chants"

You're a 5 year old club with literally no history and your manager thinks you deserve to be in the UWCL group stage despite having never been there sit down mf

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Van der Ven injured, Romero actually suspended (though watch them rescind it later), and Maddison injured. Karma, to be honest.

[–] Gingerrific@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I was wondering when the wheels would fall off

[–] thatdosbox@mstdn.ca 4 points 2 years ago

Think I'll skip listening to the arseblog and arsenal vision pods this week. I don't need to hear more rants about referees and VAR.

[–] thatdosbox@mstdn.ca 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Always did rate Michael Oliver 🤐

Hate Spuds and Chelsea but this has been a cracking game.

[–] Gingerrific@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

This is why I love the game. Excitement, drama, goals, cards, disallowed goals, high tempo and physical.

The next goal will be vital

[–] kaleid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

That was glorious. Lost the game, two players to injury and another two to red cards. Run out of luck finally.

[–] SoupACabra@lemmy.wtf 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I've just realised that they hate us, every single fanbase/fandom of every single premier league club hates us. I'd thought Chelsea were the most hated club in the PL but they're not.

also I found the profile of an arsenal fan who hates arteta so much his whole profile is just that

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Lol we're so hated that we hate ourselves so to speak? I loathe fandom sometimes, I really do.

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I will be very happy when Newcastle gets thrashed in the CL

[–] thatdosbox@mstdn.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Suzie Wrack doesn't hide that she's a gooner, but this from her is gold:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/nov/06/womens-super-league-talking-points-from-the-weekends-action

"Taylor also hit out at the technical area antics of Eidevall, telling the BBC that the Arsenal manager was “bullying” the fourth official."

"Eidevall had already done his post-match interviews so did not have a chance to respond to the comments. He was not cautioned or spoken to by the referee during the game."

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (4 children)

VAR helping Spurs again I hear.

[–] thatdosbox@mstdn.ca 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Looking forward to all the Chelski fans admitting that Arteta might have a point 🙊

[–] thatdosbox@mstdn.ca 4 points 2 years ago

And as I typed that, Romero gets sent off, and they get a pen 😂

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

If I speak....🙊

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

two goals called off and two red card tackles... not rigged eh??

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

You see why I'm so disillusioned?

can't believe I want a chelsea win but finally

took them long enough

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There's only one true winner out of this bloody gameweek

Citeh

Bloody hell.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Hey now, trusty the process has a win now, they're winning too haha

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

But man the promoted teams are so dire... I'm rather disappointed.

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

You know, normally I'd be upset about Shit getting the classic 9 minutes to get an equalizer, but today I think we might see an extra card for each side.

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] hangonasecond@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Too soon, but lol

[–] Gingerrific@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Strap in, cause this wild ride is getting even crazier
