Donald Trump has issued his latest threat to Iran and said that if officials fail to make a deal with the United States “the whole country is going to get blown up.”

The president also made threats Sunday morning to target civil infrastructure after it was reported that Iranian forces were refusing to allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz this weekend.

[–] KbSez@piefed.social 8 points 2 hours ago

oh yeah... that'll work.

Just like when he told everyone the Straight was open and for some reason Iran didn't believe him

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Is this a new threat to blow up the country, after his last threat to do so where he claimed to have gotten a ceasefire (which Israel breached on Lebanon less than 24 hours later)?

[–] shiv@sh.itjust.works 17 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

Absolutely crazy to me no one has shot this guy yet.

Absolutely crazy how many terminally online people casually call for someone to just throw their life away.

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 2 points 55 minutes ago (1 children)

Saying you're surprised something hasn't happened is a long shot from encouraging that it's done.

With the amount of unstable and desperate people out there I'm surprised nobody's kidnapped Elon musks kids for ransom. I don't wish his kids any harm, and don't hope it happens, but I'm still a bit surprised that it hasn't happened when you consider the amount of people out there with nothing to lose, questionable morals, and a big desire to make a lot of money.

If ONLY there was SOMETHING we Could do to STOP this!

-Congresspeople doing NOTHING to Stop this!

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Idk, I think I'm going to scream at voters for this. Primarily leftist voters, though. I still think I can win over the conservative voters and Congress critters by being nice to them.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 11 minutes ago

Really it's the left's fault for wanting basic human rights and an end to genocide. The Democratic party simply can't accommodate such extremist views /s

USA by criminals for criminals. Absolutely disgusting country, just as bad as Putin's Russia.
To the American population: The fact that you elected this corrupt criminal pedophile malignant narcissist of a moron twice will never be forgotten - never!

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 39 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

will never be forgotten

Sadly, you're wrong. It will be forgotten. That's why history keeps repeating itself.

If people didn't forget, they wouldn't have voted for fascists. After the war, people swore they would never forget the horrors of fascism either. And yet... Trump is soiling the White House today.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 1 points 30 minutes ago* (last edited 23 minutes ago)

Has Hitler been forgotten?
This time it's even worse, because Americans have been taught about Hitler and Nazism and the horrors that follow with authoritarian governments.
Americans have no excuse, they should have learned enough from history to not repeat the mistakes of Nazism.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair, it was different people.

[–] Zoot@reddthat.com 1 points 48 minutes ago

Certainly wasn't America saying that

[–] GardenVarietyAnxiety@lemmy.world 15 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

Hell yeah! This is why Germany is still shunned by the global population after all these years.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 1 points 26 minutes ago

Has it been forgotten, if you mention Hitler, does anyone still remember? No it will not be forgotten, just as the USA helping Europe hasn’t been forgotten. But the reason Germany was slowly forgiven was first that they were split in 2 making the power of Germany smaller, it was a different time, with no prior historical lesson to learn from regarding Nazism. and that the political environment in both parts of Germany was changed completely, with Western Germany taking responsibility more than any country had done before them.

[–] classic@fedia.io 6 points 2 hours ago

And why Germany has no right wing influence now

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago

Yeah but was just Hitler. We're talking about Trump here.

/s just in case

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 hours ago

I'd argue it's worse, the Russians didn't exactly elect theirs

Threaten and do nothing.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 22 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (4 children)

I blame the criminally passive GOP congresscritters and senators for letting Trump and his fascist henchmen destroy the country. All it would take is for a few of them to agree to 25th Trump's ass and impeach Vance and Kegbreath for this madnest to end right this minute.

History will not be kind to them, and I hope the courts will hold them accountable for what they did one day too.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 12 minutes ago)

You kidding me. Once this fucker is gone, every single one of them will decide that the orange lying asshole was the only problem, and will reliably pull their team’s lever again and again…

Edit - goddamned autocorrect.

[–] freshcow@lemmy.world 16 points 3 hours ago

Don't let them or the media convince you that their actions are passive. They have had many opportunities to put the brakes on this administration, and every time they deliberately side with Trump. Every Republican congressperson is complicit with his agenda.

[–] atropa@piefed.social 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 3 points 3 hours ago

I guarantee you if God existed, he would not ro-ro with those clowns.

If I was a Christian, I would feel offended by the GOP: they talk a lot about Jesus but they don't actually follow the teachings of Jesus very much. And that's hardly new.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world -1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

It will only make JD Vance president, and he is no better than Trump, and the American population will just elect another psychopath a few years down the road. We might as well get it over with and have USA destroy itself now.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 9 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

It will only make JD Vance president

Re-read what I wrote.

the American population will just elect another psychopath a few years down the road

Indeed, you're correct. Trump and MAGA aren't the problem, they're a symptom. The disease is a population with the IQ of a lemming and a penchant for fascism.

But you will note that I said "stop THIS madness". The next madness is next. But at least this one could be halted quickly.

We might as well get it over with and have USA destroy itself now.

I'm hip about that. The problem is, America is dragging the rest of the world down with it.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 1 points 21 minutes ago* (last edited 19 minutes ago)

Re-read what I wrote.

Impeaching him will do nothing, it hasn't really done anything to prevent a president in power since Nixon was threatened with it back in the 60's.

But you will note that I said “stop THIS madness

"This" is not specific, I read it like the madness of USA, not the administration or congress, but the people electing insane psychopathic politicians.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 4 points 4 hours ago

The disease is a population with the IQ of a lemming and a penchant for fascism.

Disappointing but succinct

[–] y0kai@anarchist.nexus 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

*the capitalist billionaire class will thrust two psychopaths one the American people and tell them they're the only options.

Americans haven't had a say in decades, if ever.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 1 points 12 minutes ago

You had me with the first line, but lost me with the second.
USA is still a democracy although imperfect, and we just saw in Hungary how a near dictator of 16 years was overturned despite conditions for the elections were just as bad as they are in USA, and despite Orban had control of the national media and the courts.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 16 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Trump talks the talk, but I would be surprised if the Iranians didn't quietly start to walk the walk and prepare some blowing up of their own.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

I don't think either of them have been shy about blowing shit up.

I do think France is slowly manufacturing consent to involve itself on behalf of Israel. If the EU sides with the US in this fight, it could get very ugly for Iran.

[–] duckshuffgoose@piefed.social 4 points 3 hours ago

this is so last week...oh, wait...

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 hours ago

I made a non-credible diplomacy meme for this weekend's version of the TACO meal prep.

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago
