The world’s No. 1 bro-caster, who has expressed some buyer’s remorse over his endorsement of Trump, stood directly behind the president, who was seated at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office signing an executive order to ease restrictions on medical research and treatments using psychedelic drugs.

You can kind of see this as a general win for anybody who is a fan of using psychedelics for treatment of mental health issues, but it's important to point out that both of the people mentioned in the headline have ulterior motives for this move.

Trump wants to get Joe Rogan back on his side after he alienated him with his Iran antics. Joe Rogan is one of the biggest conservative megaphones in the nation and he can't afford to have him be talking shit about MAGA before the midterms, so he'll throw him a bone about this one issue that he doesn't give a fuck about anyway.

Joe Rogan is doing this to be able to hopefully one day self-administer psychedelics, not get meaningful treatment or aid from a professional to guide him through the process and change himself for the better.

I'm not sure which of these two are being more selfish at this point.

Remember way back like 1 week ago when there was an article saying JoE RoGan TuRnS on MaGa. Fuck that. Once a fascist, always a fascist. Just stop paying attention to him.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Rogan told reporters he learned about the medical benefits of psychedelics from an interview on his podcast with W. Bryan Hubbard, the CEO of the nonprofit Americans for Ibogaine — who stood next to Rogan in the Oval Office — and former Energy Secretary Rick Perry.

The fuck? Who let Rick “and the third thing i can’t remember” Perry in there??

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Hope this isn't some strange 4-d chess move to have dem ban them because it was associated with trump. I doubt it, but I do fear.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The president also joked about getting ibogaine for himself as he pointed to a study that found that people who took the drug experienced a massive reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety within a month.

“Can I have some, please? I’ll take some,” he said. “I don’t have time to be depressed. You know, you stay busy enough, maybe that works too. That’s what I do.”

Anybody seen my violin?

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

I don't believe for a second that he suffers from depression or anxiety. He's a carrier - he induces it in others.

[–] RabbitBBQ@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Joe Rogaine is proof that no matter how much money you have, you can't buy a full head of hair

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago

Perhaps with this easing of restrictions on psychedelics they’ll find some new combination of shrooms, horse dewormer, bleach, and toilet seat coke that will bring it back. At a minimum that combo will have you thinking your hair is back.

I was planning on doing some independent research on my day off anyway.

[–] Akh@lemmy.world 43 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Joe Rogan did help to get this guy elected. I hope that is remembered during Nuremberg 2.0

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 17 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

If we've built a society where Joe Rogan has political influence then that's our fault more than it is his

[–] Akh@lemmy.world 10 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Propagandist have always existed and in Nuremberg, they were executed

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 2 points 3 hours ago

Yeah, it's only our fault if they die a peaceful death instead of going to trial

[–] johncandy1812@lemmy.ca 111 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I can't wait for the day when we no longer have to hear about these two.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 17 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Don't worry the media will still report every time they show their faces or say something stupid

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 14 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Can’t show your face after your dead.

[–] fitgse@sh.itjust.works 46 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

This is only an executive order. We know those are meaningless. I’m curious if there will actually be research on something that could go back to being illegal at any time.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 20 points 8 hours ago

It might be meaningless legally but we've also learned that the various 3 letter agencies just do whatever the fuck he says anyway.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 20 points 8 hours ago

But the same clown killed the NIH....so now we can legally not research anything.

[–] resolute_clover@sh.itjust.works 10 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Trump needs to take some psychedelics.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

Psychedelics doesn't magically make a bad person into a good person, just look at Joe Rogan. Though I am all for putting the entire admin deep into a k-hole that they will never escape from

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)
[–] Pyrodexter@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

That's a weird k-hole if he's still in one.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

There is only one cure for lead deficiency. Leading more effectively, ahem.

[–] Vegan_Joe@piefed.world 59 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (4 children)

This, and accidentally legalizing hemp weed are possibly the only positive things to come out of this whole debacle

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 16 minutes ago

He also ended NAFTA, which was a good move for Mexican proletariat

[–] KelvarCherry@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

This and reducing marijuana to Schedule III are two popular policies that Democrats are fucking stupid for passing up. If Democrats ever regain power, I do hope this might motivate the party to fully legalize marijuana, psychedelics, and other low-risk drugs like amphetamines.

[–] BygoneNeutrino@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

If Democrats rescheduled marijuana, they wouldn't be able to use the issue to win future elections. I love how Biden waited until last minute to demand the rescheduling of marijuana. If he had done it any sooner, his attempt might have been successful.

no one tell him about November

https://wakenbakery.net/november-2026-hemp-ban-thc-products/

In November 2025, Congress passed H.R. 5371, which rewrites the federal definition of hemp to use total THC instead of just delta-9. This means THCA — which converts to delta-9 when heated — now counts toward the legal threshold. The law also caps finished products at just 0.4mg total THC per container, which would make even a single 5mg gummy illegal.

What Products Are Affected?

  • THCA flower — Raw hemp flower that converts to THC when smoked or vaped. Sales have surged 340% since 2024.
  • Delta-8 and delta-10 THC products — The gas station gummies and vapes that exploded in popularity.
  • Hemp-derived delta-9 gummies and edibles — The legal edibles sold at cannabis cafes and online.
  • HHC products — Synthesized from hemp-derived CBD.
  • THC beverages — Infused seltzers, coffees, and lemonades.
[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

The party is in control and they are well aware of November. He doesn't know what is going on.

[–] Vegan_Joe@piefed.world 20 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Fuck.

I'm reminded of that early South Park episode where Chef explains that the best way to make a baby cry is to first give it candy.

Then, once the baby is happy, only then do you take it away.

The best way to hurt people is to lift them up first, so the fall back down hurts twice as much...

[–] Willoughby@piefed.world 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'm sick of it too, I'm a regular THC user and this round, I may bite the bullet and quit entirely. Fuck this entire country.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

What's the context that I'm missing? What happened in November?

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 2 points 5 hours ago

I'm scared to ask...

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 7 points 7 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Eric@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 54 minutes ago* (last edited 53 minutes ago)

Yea, but doesn't go into effect until November. THCA flower is already banned, but edibles and THCA carts are still legal until then. I'm keeping hope that something will happen before though.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 13 points 9 hours ago

Honestly psychedelics turned my opinion on living around when I was younger and I was just messing around recklessly with them (I mean, Not too recklessly, safe tested doses and that, but I’m not a doctor!)

I do not doubt it could be helpful or useful ina therapeutic setting, especially when administered by people who know what they’re doing.

But we all know Trump is doing this to win back Rogan, who he needs to keep the roid bros in line

[–] CannedYeet@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Does this do anything if those drugs aren't rescheduled?

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 7 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

This guys never gonna get Trumps stink off him

[–] PwnTra1n@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

Shame he can never get the Rogan stink off him
