MODERATORS
The idea comes from their being a law that no one can be turned away from the ER for being unable to pay. They usually just send you a huge bill later. They argue that undocumented workers are more likely to have a fake DL in their pocket or a fake social security number so they are more likely to get away with it.
My American cousins have said they've honestly thought of saying they didn't have their wallet and give them a fake name when they went in for just that reason, but they chickened out being uncertain what would happen if they got caught.
"Get away with it" is really disgusting in this context.
It's the billionaire's world, the rest of us are just getting away with living on it.
Its humanities world and we are allowing them to be the way they are.
I have a "friend' who did it with a broken arm. 10 years on no clap back.

Magats are experts at cognitive dissonance. They can quite happily hold the belief that illegals are lazy and live off government handouts while also holding the belief that illegals are stealing their jobs.
Migrant workers, or what Magats would call "illegals" are sponsored by US employers and come in on a special visa type such as H-1A or H-2B. We will all remember the Magat leaders backpeddling on those visas and calling them necessary right ... Right?
So if migrants (supposed illegals) are stealing jobs ... then MAGA is supporting it. Cognitive dissonance? No ... these people are just stupid.
Plus they aren't reporting raids in red states because it will dispell the illusion that illegals only occur in blue states, and red States have significantly more "raids apparently"

and somehow, Trump deported fewer immigrants last year than Biden did in 2024, and Trump still had to cut SNAP and Medicare/Medicaid just to end up in far more debt!

I think there might be another source of this stupid notion. Universities host free clinics where current students can practice their specialties on volunteer patients, who usually are from underserved communities and/or undocumented, who cannot get medical attention any other way. So of course, this is the "free healthcare for illegals", dramatically exagerrated... Ignoring the fact that it is provided by less-experienced students, at very low capacity, and is technically available to anyone.
Yeah, one of the electricians that was working on my house got a little chummy with me one day several years back and said something about how if he was smart he'd go to Mexico and then cross back into the USA illegally so he could get the free debit card with thousands of dollars in the account that we give to everybody coming into the country at the border.
I said something along the lines of, "You'll have to enlighten me, what the fuck are you even talking about."
This man insisted that Biden was giving every single illegal immigrant that crosses the border a debit card worth thousands of dollars.
I said, "And do you honestly believe that?"
His response? "Yes." Because most of the guys he works with are "Mexicans" and they told him it was true.
please forgive an endless stream of consciousness runon sentence. it's kind of how it happened. i mean i was in dallas visiting my father in law. we were going to the jfk museum because we're all history geeks and it's a great museum. so we take this uber and the far right driver goes on a rant about all those out of state protestors being paid to come in and cause trouble and blah blah soros bux blah blah i really wasn't paying that much attention because i got that look in my eye and my wife started silently trying to get me to stop but she was trying to be subtle rather than sign and i started trying to get me to stop and i was trying to carry a conversation and then my mouth popped off "oh yeah that's why we're here" oh fuck i hope he has a sense of humor oh shit he doesn't.
so yeah the museum was fun. the ride there was entertaining at least. remember Coast to Coast AM? same kind of entertaining.

Let's see how Mexico's rollout of universal healthcare works (hoping it does go well for them!) then watch that entire argument fall to pieces once MAGAS realize they're still losing their homes to medical debt, or going without any affordable drugs or doctors access..

I think the strawman argument is that they go to the ER, which typically cannot deny care due to lack of insurance. That in turn makes it "free" for them.
The gotcha here is that all they will do is make sure you're not actively dying. If you're well enough to make survive till the next weekday you're getting a referral and told to GTFO of the ER.
Yep, if you're broke, but really sick, and go to the ER, they will figure out what's wrong, put a band-aid on it, and kick you out.
If they determine you have cancer, and it is treatable, or you will die, they will tell you that you have cancer, treat whatever the current symptom is, and kick you out. They will NOT treat your cancer, and you will die.
If you need a transplant, they will tell you that, but they will not give you a transplant.
They don't have to do more than that, and if there's no money on it for them, they won't.
Conservatives believe whatever they are told to believe.
If they did believe that, they would do what the meme says.
They're taught not to question. It's one of the primary reasons the conservatives started targeting religious groups decades ago. They're brainwashed from birth to do what they're told, not to think about it, but just have faith that a book written by man somehow is superior to anything else man has done because someone at some point said it came from a mystical being that no one can talk to directly and only responds indirectly.
But the hospitals know exactly who the undocumented ones are, and provide free service to them only. /s
