The Republican-led Senate on Wednesday rejected the latest Democratic attempt to halt Donald Trump’s war in Iran, turning aside a resolution that would require the U.S. to withdraw forces from the conflict until Congress authorizes further action.

The 47-52 vote was the fourth time this year that the Senate has voted to cede its war powers to the president in a conflict that Democrats say is illegal and unjustified.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman was the only Democrat to vote against it. Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky voted with Democrats.

This is why a very minimum requirement for an actual democracy includes recall voting.

Dude just straight up decided to betray his constituents and nothing can be done to remove him.

Reminder not to joke about encouraging people to do incredibly cool and sexy crimes, the FBI are not required to show context when they're showing your and other peoples posts to a judge for getting a warrent.

I came here to mention this. Glad I'm not alone. I do not understand why we can't recall or impeach Congress members by vote.

I do not understand why we can’t recall or impeach Congress members by vote

Because then the people might recall them and put in politicians who do what they want. And that's bad for the people who don't want what the people want; the capitalist class whom finances their campaigns.

Fetterman is not a democrat.

He is at best impaired mentally and at worst a GOP plant

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 116 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I hope this ghoul gets primaried into oblivion the next time he's up for reelection.

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 52 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Something isn’t right with him.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Sounds like that stroke a few years ago left him with some serious brain damage, and radically changed his political opinions/ideology (are those two related???).

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 35 points 3 days ago (2 children)

No, he was a racist and a zionist before he was elected, we just chose not to see it. The alternatives in the primary were just as bad. This was lost when Fetterman was the left most candidate in the primary.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

Ah okay, fair enough.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago

I mourn that money that could have gone to a real progressive. Instead we have this.

Vote Fetterman's useless ass out of office. WTF, Fetterman, if there is a politician who should be vocal about socialized medicine, it should be you, because that is what saved your useless ass. Instead the fuck throws money at a damn war.

[–] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fetterman is NOT a Democrat. He just plays one on TV. Because brain damage.

[–] curiousaur@reddthat.com 12 points 2 days ago

He's proof conservativism is brain damage. It's been an interesting case study at least.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 36 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Fucker should go to the front line himself.

Wouldn't the more a accurate headline be "Fetterman is the only pro-Iran-War senator to claim to be a democrat?"

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

He’s an Israeli backed pedophile

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (5 children)

I don't get why the hell people appear to be progressive one moment and then become regressive the next.

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

He literally got brain damage and became Republican

[–] detren@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Money, power, and brain damage.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Look at Kennedy, admitted brain parasite and he swings hard right and messed up.

[–] Earthman_Jim@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I'm pretty sure Robby Kennedy is just the worm's host now. We're all at the mercy of that little Shai-Hulud.

[–] sveltecider@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

in this case, brain damage

[–] Earthman_Jim@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

Didn't this dude's brain literally break?

Sinema was just broken from the start.

Fuck him for proving if you look weird and evil, you usually are

[–] j_elgato@leminal.space 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Seriously. I've got a FF plugin that automatically replaces "Fetterman" with "A Bag of Dicks Wearing a Hoodie"

It's a real time saver...

[–] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

Had a stroke and woke up republican.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

I wish there was a recall process.

[–] rangber@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

I don't know about you, but I think this fella is not very wholesome.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Why not just draft a bill that is a formal declaration of war or immediate cease and desist of war activities of it doesn't pass? Force the Republicans to formally stain themselves with war.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 11 points 3 days ago (4 children)

or immediate cease and desist of war activities of it doesn’t pass

That's not a thing, you can't make a law that has effects if it doesn't pass.

He should really be kicked out of the party at this point.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

You mean the party bought and paid for by billionaires and lead by Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jefferies? That party?

Don't hold your fucking breath.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 9 points 3 days ago

I hope nobody in PA tries to make rissoto.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Fetterman has brain damage.

This is more like, "Fetterman is only Democrat to be seriously primaried for again rejecting effort to halt Iran war."

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Never trust someone from York County
