My parents required me to let these two men join me on my solo trip in order for me to be allowed to go. They’re really cool, fun, and honestly attractive. I flirt with them, and they flirt back, it’s more of a playful game, but they told me they’d never actually do anything with me because it would be unethical/unprofessional, and my dad would probably kill them, lol. I respect that, but at the same time, they’re ex-legionnaires, I’m sure they’ve done questionable things in their lives. I’m curious what you think from an ethical perspective.

It sounds like there is a power imbalance that would make it unethical yes.

[–] mika_mika@lemmy.world 29 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Who tf are you that your parents sent you off with two trained men as protection as I'm sure they have expenses also? Lol.

You're an adult, I guess you can play the baby sitter game to appease your parents, but there's not really a power dynamic there unless you let there be one.

A rich kid. It happens.

From another post: Somebody from Switzerland who travels through Vietnam apparently.

Average salary in CH is 20x higher

[–] AskewLord@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago

A princess.

With only 1 man it would have been "dangerous" LOL

You're an adult,

How do you (pretend to) know?

[–] mika_mika@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

I figure if you were an underage minor and these are two grown ex-legionnaires there would be no grey area on the ethics of it.

If you are an adult, this situation begs the question: why do you need two bodyguards to go on a trip?

If you are not an adult, having someone watching over you makes sense and yes it makes it unethical for you to fuck around with them, and also yes unprofessional of them.

My parents tend to go a bit over the top, people who’ve seen my older posts will know what I mean. The original plan was for a family friend to come along, but I decided against it because it didn’t feel like much of a solo trip anymore. These guys just follow my lead and do whatever I want, so it still feels like a solo trip.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 11 points 4 days ago

This still doesn't change my answer. Enjoy your trip

Love it when Lemmy delivers entirely unrelatable content. God speed!

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 10 points 4 days ago (3 children)

There was another account like this with a similar name. Did you/it get banned?

Something feels very off here.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 10 points 4 days ago

Yup also asking questions about sexual inappropriateness. There’s been a few recently. I think there could be AI training.

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's violet, they post to Lemmy as a blogging medium. Sometimes they post updates and such.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Its a new account. 2 days old

[–] 87Six@lemmy.zip 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It is but it's a person that frequents this place. We know her.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Our communities have to be vigilant. You could be a bot, violet could be a bot. I agree we have seen her about but it does not make her real. I also understand that we often use conversational tone different.

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah, idk why they have an underscore after the name. Maybe a bot/imitator? They certainly do blog-like posts with continuity in between thirst posts. Idk, idc.

[–] violet08_@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, that was me lol. I deleted the first one in the heat of the moment, and the second one because I was offline focusing on a fling.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think given the common theme of the posts and the blogging aspects...plus the no label of NSFW maybe it could be an idea to have a community. You might get better responses and less down-votes.

There have been lots of different accounts on here lately posting multiple questions about boundaries and theoretical inappropriate relationships, that's why I thought AI training

They are valid questions, I just wonder if it needs its own online space.

[–] AskewLord@piefed.social 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Or they are just an unhinged person. Plenty of those around here.

[–] circledot@feddit.org 9 points 4 days ago

Depends on the rules of your fairy tale.

[–] ultranaut@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

It is unethical and potentially illegal.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Might be okay with giving a foot massage to another consenting adult human as long as I don't get thrown off a fourth-story balcony into a greenhouse for it.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

At least you didn't stick your tongue in her holiest of holys.

[–] RaphaelSchmitz@feddit.org 4 points 3 days ago

Aside from purely theoretical, philosophical interest (suuuure), it doesn't really matter, does it?

"Ah yes, now that you showed us the opinion of these online strangers on your phone, we will be ok angering your father - the man who famously hires ex-legionnaires for protection of his family - for a little hanky panky."

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago
[–] zxqwas@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Yes, it would be.

Sure they have done questionable things but disobeying instructions from their employer is probably not one of them.

[–] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Sounds like it might be fun in the moment, problematic in the medium, and then not problematic in the long run.

[–] quediuspayu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 days ago

Hahahaha yes!

[–] remon@ani.social 3 points 4 days ago

Yes and it's literally illegal in some jurisdictions.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

sounds like grooming to me, and yes this part of the imbalance people are talking about.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 1 points 3 days ago

I don't know about unethical, maybe. I'd say if you are adult enough to ask for advice and recognize the nuances of the situation, you are adult enough to make a decision for yourself. It doesn't seem very dangerous, but if you choose to proceed, do so with caution.
