Curious about non-tankie leftism? If you've got a little patience for 19th century academic style, let a little Marx and Kropotkin be your primer!

Marx's Communist Manifesto, short and accessible! Highly recommended if you haven't read it

Kropotkin's Conquest Of Bread

Selected works of Marx

I wonder if Bernie gets tired of being on the right side of every issue all the time.

At least, I must imagine he gets tired of the country not fucking listening to him.

I think it animates him, and he will continue to sanepost well into his 120s in the craziest falling empire in history. I imagine widespread ideological acceptance would break whatever phylactery keeps him going.

We have to give Bernie the rest he deserves

We have to make America better

Bernie's the kind of cool dude who would continue to hope for more though, even if we did manage to fix all the awfulness with America — he would just see that progress as a good foundation to continue building more good stuff, in a "the work is never done" kind of way.

But certainly, that kind of work would be a hell of a lot more restful than what he's having to do now.

His perseverance over the decades has truly been phenomenal.

Bernie is the most unamerican politician out there

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

Applying a modicum of common sense unfortunately seems to be a rare skill these days.

"You see, kidnapping children is good, actually, as long as those children had a tiny chance at being the victims of sexual abuse if you didn't kidnap them."

(Let's just agree not to worry about how many of those kidnapped children were sexually abused after being kidnapped...)

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 20 points 6 days ago (1 children)

They were sexually abused in the name of fighting NATO, so that's totally OK.

Yep. That's campist logic for you. The actions aren't wrong just the people doing them. Similarly the campist in the United States would complain about the lack of truly different political parties yet they would champion Xi and the CCP etc etc etc.

are you using camp as in ludicrously tragic or as in partisan or some other usage? just trying to keep up

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 5 points 6 days ago

Partisan tribalism. Though it is all hypocritical and ludicrously tragic as well. To be able to identify oppression and tragedy correctly but only in others.

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

Do we have proof those children were not sexually abused after being kidnapped?

No matter how stupid a position is

There is always someone stupid enough to take it up sincerely.

For a less-digital example, see: American politics recently

Putin and Epstein were besties, also the Russian police is relatively cheap to bribe even in cases of CSA, as long as it doesn't become a public embarassment or you stay a Putin loyalist.
