Lars and the Real Girl: Ryan Gosling is a hermit and falls in love with a sex doll. The entire small town rallies together to try and reintegrate him into society.

If you want to watch a film about “gays and coal miners” I’d recommend Pride
Second this one, love that movie.
If you get Australian humour, The Castle is fantastic. Very wholesome and very funny, although I have known non-Australians to watch it and have most of it go over their head.

Have you seen Amélie? Not at all my usual kind of film, but I watched it because I heard good things about it. It's a very quirky and endearing film and I really enjoyed it.
It's French though so you'll need subtitles. Unless you are a French speaker lol
The hunt for the wilder people - Taika Waititi directed Sam Neill and the kid from Deadpool 2, fun and heartwarming
Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams adapted book, towels and bypasses
The blues brothers - a little old but I think it's pretty good, plenty of good music
Duck soup - Marx brothers comedy that mostly hold up, very old so a couple things mentioned that were cultural references at the time are no longer known but that's pretty rare overall
Some other worth mentioning: animated Robin hood, o brother where art thou, free solo

Happy Birthday Ricky Baker randomly plays in my head ALL THE TIME and I’ve only seen the movie once and I was blasted out of my mind on sass and remember NOTHING ELSE about the movie
Beetlejuice
I rewatched it for the first time since childhood with my partner and we were both shocked at how little screen time and lines a Beetlejuice had compared to our memories of the movie! Still one of my favorites, though. Mega holds up. …also we were on acid.

Beetlejuice was a family classic for me growing up… we only had a few VHS’s and that was one so we rewatched it 1,000,000 times.
Bettlejuice 2 sucked but it did manage to milk a couple drops out of my nostalgia gland.
Pretty general description but a few movies come to mind. I Swear The Holdovers The Peanut butter falcon Little Miss sunshine

I fucking love that movie, and a few years later I realized the kid is Sora in Kingdom Hearts!
It's probably the most "feel-good movie" I can think of
I am going to assume you know all the main ones such as The Princess Bride, Stardust, A League of Their Own and various romcoms, When Harry Met Sally, You Got Mail.
Here are some others that may have what you are looking for.
- Flow. It is about a cat leading a group of animals to safety during a flood.
- Good Night Oppy. It is the story of the Mars Lunar Landers and the amazing way they were used. It is incredibly inspiring, as is so much that NASA does.
- Marcel the Shell with Shoes On: It is a stop motion movie about a shell and damn it is so good.
- The Florida Project. This is an odd one, but it does have a lot of tackiness too it, but not in an overt way.

"Fighting With My Family" is so ridiculously good.
The most violent Hallmark movie ever.
Normally I'm a bit of a movie snob and would never have picked up s title called Napoleon Dynamite but I'm glad I was convinced, one of my favourite movies!
Moonrise Kingdom is always worth a (re)watch.
Probably whole Wes Anderson filmography up until he went off the rails with the formula (Grand Budapest Hotel and later) would fit.
Wrong. It went to shit starting with Isle of the Dogs. GBH was peak
Grand Budapest Hotel is a very good movie (and so is Isle of Dogs) but it’s around that time when Wes Anderson became too much style over substance imo and OP wanted to avoid „tacky” which I would say those are.

The old Alan Rickman movie Truly madly deeply is great. Definitely not tacky. Probably wholesome? I definitely felt more happy than sad when credits rolled, and better for having watched it.
Stranger than fiction.
"Bicentennial Man" with Robin Williams and Sam Neill. It's about a robot who gains consciousness.
Old gold.
"Sullivan's Travels."
Big shot Hollywood boy genius director decides he's going to make a movie about the poor and downtrodden. His boss points out that the director grew up well off and has been making $10,000 a week since he graduated college.
So he decides to hit the road and see what poverty is really like...

If you are in a “what is love / would anyone love me / would I love anyone” type of period, I recommend you watch Before Sunrise.
I couldn’t believe this movie was downloaded when I set Radarr to download IMDb top250. The premise of the movie is that two relatively wealthy people smell each others farts for an hour and a half.
Character 1: I have this incredibly popular worldview which makes me sound cool.
Character 2: I can’t believe it! I’m also a very smart free thinker! I thought I was the only one :O
Not sure what you consider tacky, but I thought Lady in the Water fit that description.
I recently watched Garden State for the first time and quite liked it.
Local Hero (1983) would definitely fit the bill. It's a little quirky but I wouldn't call it tacky at all.
