Now all the 17 people who bought this shit will be able to play non-vr pc games streamed directly on they 5k doorstopper

[–] sukhmel@programming.dev 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Well, it's better than not being able, I guess

Bragging rights, amarite?

it’s important to clarify that this does not stream VR games—only the sorts of games you would play on a traditional 2D display like a computer monitor or a TV

Saved you a click. You’re welcome.

Oh, so worthless then.

The vision pros are a good VR headset technologically, they're just completely ruined by Apple's software and general incompatibility with the entire VR ecosystem.

Well, at least for the time being. The article did suggest that it’s a step in an interesting direction. No guarantees though.

What the fuck? Why would they waste time on this shit?

Knowing how valve is it’s probably because someone working at Valve has a Vision Pro and wanted better support for it.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 20 points 14 hours ago

I'm sure it will please both of the other people who own a Vision Pro too.

Probably as a learning exercise so they know what developing and shipping for that platform is like.

Given they're currently building a similar product, makes sense to see what the competition is up to

To use this knowledge in their VR/AR down the line?

It portably wasn’t that hard to do. The ROI of something like this was probably worth it even if only a small amount of people will actually use it.
