Not surprised the SDA is doing jack shit, they always have been quite useless. At my first job I was more or less pressured into joining them, I wonder if it's the same story at Coles

[SDA] Australia’s Largest Retail Union Colludes With Bosses to Exploit Workers
https://jacobin.com/2021/11/australia-retail-workers-right-wing-union-sda-rest-employer-exploitation
The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA) is a socially conservative, right-wing union, affiliated with the Australian Labor Party
Yep that's exactly what they do, and probably a large part of why my managers were so chill with them
This is why RAFFWU is striking in October and why everyone should dump SDA for RAFFWU.
October? But it’s November now…?
Presumably these checks are taking place while employees are still on the clock. Because if they're not paid to be there, they should be free to leave immediately and without hindrance.
Right?
No idea about Coles, but other retailers have been caught doing off the clock bag checks and more importantly waiting for your bag to be checked. They were forced to provide back pay.
