Of course it does not make sense. It does not have to. It is a diversion. Basically, attacking trans persons is the new anti-abortion campaign. The latter's extreme results have pissed off even "conservative" voters when it directly affected them, as well. So now they picked a new target to attack that is only a minimal percentage of the entire population and only minimal support from the population at large. It is not even about trans people, it is about riling up people about some made up bullshit (like trans people eating children or whatever) so people do not start thinking about how the super rich make them super poor. It is all diversion from the class struggle. Keep them fighting some imagined enemy so they do not start building guillotines and chopping off the heads of billionairs. That is all there is to it, really.

I feel like the last part ("ThEY aRe TuRnINg ThE ChILdrEn [GaY/ TRanS]") is just projection. THEY are the ones who want to stop you from being trans. The conversion "therapy" thing reminds me of this. They scream about their children being "TuRnED GaY", while being more than happy to try to torture people into being straight.
Yes, on one level. Transphobes are hateful bigots who fear nonsense.
But (bear with me) it makes sense that some people spout nonsense about transfolks. Boundary crossings and category annhilation are just difficult for humans to deal with. And when we're anxious humans invent explanations, often absolute nonsense.
For example material from but no longer part of the body. Piss, shit and blood of course, but hair, nails, and even worn clothing are gross, dangerous, used in magic. Because self/non-self is a hard boundary we use and anything that problematizes that boundary is gauranteed to make some humans very uncomfortable.
Gender, likewise, is an ancient boundary. Most apes and many social mammals show gender based social roles, so we're talking millions of years. Gender has been central(ish) to human identity as far back as we can see.
Problematizing our artifical gender binary threatens those empowered by it (cis men), and challenges a category with deep roots. Many cultures often have third or fluid gender roles - people en masse can accept a more complete picture of human gender. But of course the process of change will make some people uniquely uncomfortable and thus spout nonsense.
That would require transphobes to be willing to understand the subject and alter their hard line, black and white beliefs. These people want everyone to fit neatly into their idealistic view of what a man or woman is, and reject any idea that gender is not penis/vagina. Idiots hate spectrums and gray areas because it confuses them.
And yet they turn around and hypocritically bully feminine men by calling them women
"Hah ha, you're such a woman. You'll never be a real man"
"You're right, I identify as a woman"
"What? No, you were born male, you can't call yourself a woman. You expect me to affirm your delusional fantasy?"
It’s never actually phobia, it’s genocide and eugenics.
