Reviews are surprisingly good. I didn't find one below an 8.5

A Souls-Like Western full of Eldritch horrors. Explore the accursed Wild West town of Tombwater and lay bare the darkness that lies beneath. Survive blood-spilling combat in this gruesome 2D action-RPG that may just drive you to madness.

I might be out of the loop, but isn't this a Zelda type of game not a metroid type of game?

The devs label it as a metroidvania, and a lot of reviews mention it as a Zelda-like, but people who’ve played it say it straddles an already thin line between the genres.

What qualities is that? Back tracking?

As far as I'm aware the defining quality of a Metroidvania is backtracking and unlocking new branches/offshoots/areas of previous zones as you unlock new movement abilities. Which is why Control almost qualifies as a Metroidvania. No idea about this game though.

I’d add that some people delineate between the two with the idea that Zelda-likes have dungeons and metroidvanias don’t.
