Who's Arthur Fleck ??
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
He's the Joker from the movie Joker
I also didn't know and had to think about it for far too long.

Really... it's a fine movie, but I doubt most people even remember who the character's names were.
The protagonist/antagonist (who became the Joker) in the 2019 film "Joker" and the 2024 jukebox musical sequel "Joker: Folie a Deux".
I'm not so sure. Fleck can see that the neurotypicals around him get treated a lot better, even the working class ones. Fleck wants to be a comedian, but he isn't funny. He wants to make people laugh, but he doesn't understand humour. Fleck's problem isn't just capitalism, it's mostly his abusive mother who didn't teach him how to make his way in the world. She stunted him. A communist revolution would make that better, but it wouldn't fix it. There are more kinds of privilege than just economic, although economic privilege touches everything else.
What Fleck needs is a second childhood, with better role models who have patience for him. I strongly disagree with the notion that everyone's an adult at 18. Growing up is about learning, and some people don't get those chances to learn. Fleck's a manchild. He needs to be treated like a child, and by that I mean care, kindness, and patience.
Wait..... You're actually talking about the 'controlled system', right ??
I don't know what that is
Do you have the freedom to do all that you want to ?? If no, what's holding you back ???
*You, I use capitalised pronouns
To be honest, l've put time into a freeze mode, until the world has torn away the 2030 calendar.
Has anyone else talked about this?
Probably, but I'm not aware of it. I'm just a psychology nerd who likes analysing movies.
And who's Franklin ??
Murray Franklin is the talk show host character in the 2019 film "Joker".
