I miss a "just have a nice chatter about your daily personal life" community. What to ask?

I tell you about mine. I was at a meetup yesterday of the local CCC (chaos computer club) in vienna. it was 20 years of CCC vienna meetup. was fun, met a lot of cute people, was too shy to talk to any of them, now i'm here sitting in my room bored and wondering what to do.

I’ve either got RSV, COVID, or a rhinovirus. I awaken drowning in my own mucus. I cough so hard my ribs hurt. And I have diarrhea so I have to clench the entire time. I’ve eaten nothing for two days and have no appetite and every joint hurts more than usual.

Thanks! I’m feeling much better today. I think it’s because I spent all day yesterday watching SG1.

I'm doing pretty well! Busy lately, but still finding time for things I enjoy.

Chaos computer club sounds cool, what kind of topics come up there?

Nothing wrong (AFAIK) with asking here, but I think you'd dig the !casualconversation@piefed.social community.

just generic engineering, like tempering with wood and metalworks (welding) and also soldering for electronics and discussing the state of software, there's a linux cafe in the same building where we offer to install linux for commoners who can't/don't want to do it themselves. to help them move away from micros*ft.

I was just gonna bring this up when I saw the post. That community is a lot of fun!

On a train, going to the capital for a job interview.

[–] andybytes@programming.dev 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

ha haha Train and job interview lucky.... I live in the country of pedos. your world would seem like magic. I bet you have affordable healthcare

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 week ago

Nah, it isn't affordable. It's free.

[–] frank@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Best of luck! How did it go?

[–] palmtrees2309@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

It's tomorrow, going to a Friend's place to stay overnight.

Eating a fancy lunch at this Japanese place with my girlfriend. The food is amazing

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 1 week ago

It'd be better with a nice cold cream soda.

Also check out this nice artist: chikoi the maid - bandcamp

it's a bit, idk i'd say punk? anyways it has the soul of a sad person with lots of emotion and i like it :)

[–] emotional_soup_88@programming.dev 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't have the mental or emotional capacity to answer your post right now, but this artist is awesome. Listening to their first album now. Danke schön, Gandalf der Zwölfte.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

i fell asleep to their music yesterday and when i woke up it was still going 6 hours later :)

That's exactly my plan. God their music is soothing. Gnight!🌺

Okay, so I listened to their first two albums while going in and out of sleep. They're like if System of a Down rewrote the Death Note soundtrack in the style of Linkin Park. XD

I'm holding on by a thread. I'm humiliated, anxious, and desperate for a job that can cover the bills. Lonely too.

damn not having enough resources to live sucks.

Got my catalytic converter stolen and they got the o2 sensors along with it. Thankfully my stepdad is a mechanic so instead of a grand for a fix it was 300. Not the best lead-in to the week of my birthday but I suppose it could be worse...

it could just be a lot better too.

[–] zxqwas@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

I've been cursed with a severe cold again.

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

Awesome. Great church service today. The Chinese members cooked an authentic lunch for everyone. Incredibly delicious. The temperature has finally risen above freezing so the snow is starting to melt.

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

Enjoying my day off. Grilling a steak and just being in the moment. Found out yesterday that my ex got herself a new girlfriend so we probably won’t be hooking up for a while. But I can wait until she fucks this one up lol. Ay least it frees me up to focus my efforts elsewhere.

7.2/10 Day off today, so I'm rating it high

Good but a little tired! Had the weekend off but it was kind of busy: close friend's birthday on Friday, protests on Saturday, going out with old friends tonight. Made my first gunpla model kit too. 😄

Took a nice little walk to the lake

[–] AskewLord@piefed.social 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Great. I nailed my workouts this week despite their intensity I didn't get very tired afterwards, which tells me my base fitness is way higher than I thought and all the hard work I put in over this winter really paid off. I still need to lose 10lbs though, which is annoying and feels like it is holding me back a bit because that is 5% of my body mass meaning I could be 5% faster/stronger once it's gone.

I was also going to ask out a couple of ladies on a dating app that seemed cool but they jumped the gun and kind of went nuts on me, so glad that happened rather than on a date in person. I am so sick of attracted unhinged weirdo women who think I owe them expensive dates.

healthy relationships can only exist in a sane environment.

Low function day. I am supposed to be finishing cleaning my room, but by the time I did laundry and went shopping and made lunch I ran out of energy and had to lie down, and that was the end of that plan.

This is bad because my roommate is very unhappy about the state of my room, which is abysmal (the mice that live in my walls shit on everything and it stinks), and I would like to fix it so that he feels better about it. I tried to hire a maid service to come clean the apartment, but the one I contacted said they wouldn't come out if we had mouse droppings, I guess because of the risk of sickness. So the plan is to get things clean enough that I can tell them the mouse droppings are cleaned up so that they can come out, but obviously I struggle to clean which is why I needed help in the first place... I wanted to get it done over the weekend but the weekend has now ended, so we'll have to see if I can get it done tomorrow.

honestly, my best advice is just to burn everything down with fire at this point (figuratively).

i.e. just take a big black plastic bag and put everything that's laying on the floor into it; close the bag and throw into trash. Don't even bother with distinguishing different types of garbage. just throw it all away. using this crude approach, you need very little mental energy, because you don't need to think about each manual step so much, and it's quickly done. Then, when most garbage is gone, you can call the maid for further steps.

[–] anthropozaen@feddit.org 2 points 1 week ago

Why don't you get professional exterminators to deal with the mice?

[–] karpintero@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

In-person meet ups are great, especially for shared hobbies. A lot of things are starting to be remote only, which can also be fine, but I just prefer meeting IRL.

Was a pretty good day. Walked to the park with my dog, made progress on a chair I've been building, and played some mandolin. Mowed the lawn too, I have one of those non-electric reel mowers so it's a decent workout.

[–] titusio@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

Scrolling through lemmy instead of working. Didn’t get enough sleep last night so my concentration is terrible today.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm doing like shit. I can't find a job and when I run out of money I'm killing myself

[–] mrmaplebar@fedia.io 7 points 1 week ago

Damn dude...I hope you don't! Doesn't seem worth it, even after hitting rock bottom...

No family or friends as a support system? Any community homelessness resources? Can you get by a little longer selling stuff?

What kind of job are you looking for? Can you temporarily settle for something less just to make ends meet while hunting?

Good luck, amigo. Don't give up just yet!
