3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
Fuck the MAGA Yanks and their stupid wars, the rest of the world suffers because of their rapist Pedo president cunt
Not just MAGA, also all of these "Independents" and shitty "Moderate" Democrats.
Idk mate that's shifting the blame a bit don't you think? There's degrees of culpability, and I think the mad dog is worse than the people sitting on the sidelines. Place the blame squarely in those responsible, rather than open the door to infighting. Idk that's just my opinion
...and the US government slashes healthcare benefits across the board to fund the fucked up piss poor planned war.
As a American who didn't vote for these War Idiots, oh well, that's what we all get when morons with a sixth grade reading and comprehension level vote.
I'm just having they day Americans collectively and repeatedly voted for even when crap went south the first time around unfortunately.

Americans? It fucked up prices all around the world, even raised mortgage taxes in the UK. Trump and Netanyahu is a world-wide pestilence that must be dealt like-wise.
Americans?
The only people in the world that matter.
Nevermind Cuba paying $20/gal for gas in the few places it's still available. Or the Philippines seeing enormous street protests responding to surging energy prices. Or South African farms cutting their planting season thanks to fertilizer shortages. Or even the UK staring down the prospect of winter heating bills in excess of 2-3% of GDP.
Nope. Only America matters
False
-an American
i mean, it's an article on america. there's other articles about other countries. i think people like to see that specifically americans are facing consequences for global actions taken by the us president, which makes this one rise to the top over any other specific country's similar articles.
just kinda boring to see this take on every post about america facing the consequences of their actions these days. like, maybe you could link to an article focusing on the global systemic impact, and we can have that discussion. instead it's like everything that points out that americans are unhappy has this constant comment section being like "HOLY SHIT AMERICANS ONLY THINK ABOUT THEMSELVES". which is totally understandable, but like, what do you expect to happen? there's an impeachment and JD vance takes over and instantly things are solved? or do you expect a significant margin of the population of the continental united states to rise up and storm the capitol in a way that's somehow more cohesive and effective than the last time there was a violent coup attempt at the US capitol?
inb4 something something the french protest and everyone makes fun of them, and "NO BUT I EXPECT YOU TO DO MORE THAN THIS PEACEFUL PROTEST BULLSHIT"
Don't disagree with any of this and every form of protest is useful. Purist opinions on how things should be done is how things don't ever get done. I only found it funny that they emphasized US in the title when the whole world suffers thanks to this war. After all the title should reflect the most important and distelled piece of information in the article.
remember: this is what the owning class wants. scared, hungry, poor people are much more likely to accept shit wages and still pay more everyday for everyday things.
the gaps in pay and cost will only end up as profit in the owning classes.
bonus is that the same working people are too hungry tired or scared to merc these fuckers.
Hunger is historically also the breeding ground for rebellion.
Which is why the massive Propaganda programs distracting people away from those who are to blame for all this shit by, for example promoting Nationalism and blaming the immigrants, exist and in some countries have taken over all of the traditional Press and most of the messaging in non-traditional media such as Social Media.
Those who have most of the power will always chose to put money into brainwashing the masses, early detection and suppression of seeds of rebelion and buying politicians since that's far more profitable for them than, say, pay sufficient taxes and salaries so that the life of the many is improved.
This is why so much of the Press is now Propaganda (either overtly so or using Manufacturing Consent techniques), so many of the supposed Representatives of voters only represent an tiny fraction of people and governments in supposed Democracies keep pushing for the kind of civil society surveillance that would make the likes of the Stasi green with envy.
Things will get much, much worse, before they either crack into Rebellion or Democratic systems are subverted into extreme repressive Authoritarianian systems.
Personally, looking at the World now, I fear the US will end up in Authoritarianism, as will part of Europe.
Sometimes, rebellion. Other times, reactionary pogrom.
The Russian mass murder of Moscow Jews under the younger brother of the Czar came about due to a global energy crisis. Japan's invasion and genocide within China and Korea, too.
for sure. but i feel the current era’s owning class knows how to ebb/flow the troubles just enough to keep real rebellion away. :(
Looting = shopping
I don't think I'm going to make it through. Damn everyone that voted for Trump. Damn them to Hell.
You'll make it through. It will be hard, and you will make decisions you never thought you'd have to, in ways you never imagined you would.
The survival instinct is strong. Theres a "code of the sea" for a reason.
First step is just to outlive Trump. You want to live long enough to see that worthless piece of shit in the ground. It shouldn't take too long. Then pick the next piece of shit to outlive. Spite is useful.
I'm not making enough money to cover my mortgage. My industry is using AI as a reason to not rehire. I got professional certifications to switch industries, but nobody is hiring for jobs that can cover my expenses. Unless something happens soon I'm not going to make it.
I don't want to join the military for a war for the benefit of Israel. I'm an old man.
Have you considered running for office, or working for someone who is?
Run for office? The only people that succeed at that have connections. If I had connections then I wouldn't be in the circumstances I'm in currently.
Things seem to be changing around that sort of thing. And I wasn't suggesting high office. Like, any office. But I also suggested working for a campaign, getting behind someone decent who might run in your area.
There are no honest people anymore.
These are exactly the times when such people rise. Support one. Be one.
Kat Abugazaleh just ran one of the best campaigns in American history. She did it with hardly any connections or personal wealth. She started up a mutual aid office. She changed the narrative. She was beaten only by a concerted effort by AIPAC. She set a model for how ordinary people can push change. Graham Plattner is attempting to do the same in Maine. He also has a pretty good shot.
Look, if you don't like the idea, it ain't for you. I was just trying to encourage you by throwing whatever ideas against the wall to see what sticks.
I need an idea that's actionable to pay for my mortgage, groceries, and utility bills this month.
You and I are in the same damn boat. I'm sorry internet friend, I wish this timeline wasn't so fucking stupid.
I'm sorry you're in the boat with me. Let's do our best to float.
If there isn't a political shift in the Democrat Party away from fielding "almost as evil as the Republicans but not quite" candidates and pushing "tactical vote" propaganda, a hard neoliberal in power in the US next is a guarantee as is an outright Fascist in 4 or 8 years.
Just look at this graphic of social mobility in the US - the trend has long been to move away from a "land of opportunity" into a dynastic neo-Feudal society and unless that trend is actually reversed (rather than 4 or 8 more years of ratchet effect that at most slows it down slightly) the underlying problems of poverty and hopelessness that create a large block of votes who are easilly swindled by far-right populists scapegoating foreigners, will not be solved.
Agreed. Right now I'm just trying to keep this one person alive though.
Damn everyone that voted for Trump.
Silicon Valley fascism was coming one way or another. It's been building steam since the 90s.
Trump's just one agent. It could have been under DeSantis or Cruz or Bloomberg or Hillary.
The notion that one party can just win forever, because the other is worse, only breeds shittier and shittier candidates.
How much of this is just greedflation with an excuse of war?
100% of it is greedflation. The oil being sold at stations currently was purchased and processed months ago. Actual hits to costs would not be realized.
How much of it is the 40% additional money supply created during Covid?
If you're paying with something as inflationary as TrumpCoin© what do you expect, QE is a scam on the working class people.
Time to electrify and become energy independent with renewables. There's no straight that can be shut down that would stop your solar panels from generating electricity. No government can stop the wind from blowing and wind turbines from spinning.
Yeah, that's one of the perplexing things going on with right wing nationalists in basically all countries. You'd think they'd be all in into generating our fucking own energy and using it ourselves instead of sending money over to mostly the Middle East. But no, they're all into fossil fuels - even in countries which have absolutely no such resources and need to import everything 100%.
But that's the thing with such people, thinking is not their strong suit.
They are all backed by fossil fuel companies and weapons manufacturers...
There is no better proof that the right wing nationalists are actually "sold out traitors" per the very ideologies they claim to defend, than how they fight for policies which are good for other countries and bad for their own country.
If there is one thing genuine Leftwing and the Rightwing ideologies would agree with is self-sufficiency in core needs like food and enery.
Because they're eating up their propaganda like good lil boys.
Many of them also subscribe to a middle eastern religion. You'd think they'd be huge fans of the place.
Large. Stupid. Loud. Trucks.
Aka - manbaby bullshit
Someone should tell them that the people who actually didn't make it through were the 180-ish little kids that were bombed by an American missile in the middle of their school day over in Iran. Stand by and watch how the Religious Right try to argue they were child terrorists or something abysmal like that. Gas can cost 20 dollars per gallon and it doesn't even compare. I'm just going to remind everyone conservative of that every time they mention anything about affordability.
All part of god's plan. His mysterious ways. His mysterious ways and plans and don't fret, he has a special plan and place for you in heaven if you simply ignore the goings ons in the world and have faith that his cruel, sadistic, horrific, mysterious plans are your fault because he gave you free will without guardrails even though being God he could have simply not allowed for the concepts of evil and suffering and just made everything peaceful and happy but it's OK because when you get to heaven you get to worship the narcissistic asshole for eternity. Or you goes into the lake of fire and fry.
A perfect mysterious plan.
It's the USI citizens' turn to fight for their rights. Revolt and burn your government down.
To bad alternatives to fossil fules keep getting shut down, by the same people that complain about fule prices.
