If they sign Sweat to long term deal and don't have to deal with a bidding war in free agency, then this will be a great move. If not, at least he tried. Its a risk, but with big upside and having 2 firsts, a minimal downside.
Trading the #33 and ~#35 pick when you're not even close to contending makes no sense.
The highest upside move would have been Poles drafting talented rookies at #33 and #35 who become quality starters on rookie contracts.
I think he's 5-20 and he's starting to feel some pressure to get some wins. This feels like a panicked move. He doesn't trust his own ability to draft and develop talent.

M O N T E Z S W E A T is better than every DE in the draft and we got him for a second rounder. He has practically zero injuries and is in the prime of his career. The DL is immediately bolstered. Hell, maybe now Yannick can do his job on the other side as well.
The greatest position of need and he filled it with a sure fire hit that all he has to do is extend (and by all means yeet this GM to the moon if he fails to do so) for a round 2.
