The modern polarisation of political debate assumes that you have to sign up to one camp or the other.
This is, of course, deliberate, and not exclusive to this conflict.
But if you look at who is creating these divisions and why (the Israeli government and the leaders of Hamas, but also all of the external influencers like the US, UK, Iran, Saudi, Qatar, even China and Russia, and why? for money and power of course - oil, gas, weapons development and sales, political capital), you realise there is a third option - choose the "camp" of the people, recognise that we are all subject to manipulation by those in power, that war only profit them and no one else, and that it's those using civilians as pawns in their own power games that people should be aiming their rage at, not those trapped on one side or the other of their murderous cycle.
This should be obvious to anyone who calls themselves a leftist, it's always disappointing when that isn't the case..
