There is no such thing as conservatives anymore.
Go look at the map of the UN vote on historical slavery. In the "No" and "Abstained" countries the major "left" party is probably conservative.
Are they really struggling though? It is more of "acquiescencing" to hate as only option to keep the GOP platform going.
