So where is that declaration of war that is required by law. cause I still don't see it.
World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Actually Congress is voting against stopping the illegal war that they never declared in the first place.
they still didn't actually declare war though.
just another thing to use when they are all charged with treason.
Who is getting charged? By whom? When do you think this would happen?
It wasn't illegal, unfortunately. He has the power to do it for 60 days before Congress has to weigh in.
It's illegal.
The War Powers Resolution is a defensive exception to the rule:
The constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, are exercised only pursuant to (1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.
He has 34 felonies.
I dont think he cares about the law guys.
The problem isn't that he doesn't care about the law. It's that our justice dept and congress don't either.
They did the bare minimum of just eliminating or replacing those in charge of enforcing it, because they lack so much basic decency they don't even feel the need to feign.
You guys quoting laws and constitution need to wake the fuck up.
And read the war powers act that gives Trump the power to do this.
The US sent a "15-point plan" which in effect sets out Washington's demands for ending the war. The list includes demands on limits to the weapons Iran may possess and a point on ending support for proxy groups in the region. Iran is also being required to accept the existence of the state of Israel.
So it's the Israel's demands.
sounds like the same plan RUSSIA made TRUMP say outloud, verbatim with russian buzzwords too,.
It would be quite hilariously telling if orangeboi starts nattering on about “warm water ports”
I’m pretty sure chatgpt developed this “15 point” plan.
AIUI, it’s mostly the deal that Obama put in place which Trump summarily threw out
I thru 8 are ordering beer and pizza
I have a friend in the national guard who joined before Trump was elected. I’m glad he’s injured.
I thought the war was already won with complete decimation of the enemy though.
They're only deploying to confirm that victory. A victory lap. Under heavy fire support of course. Just to confirm that the war is over.
That's probably still more coherent than how they will spin it.
The autistic person in me who has spent days trying to figure out how to get troops into Iran without insane losses kinda wants to see how this plays out.
But I can't find a "good" way to accomplish the task, so I'm really hoping it doesn't come down to it.
So far the only way I see it being done without extensive US casualties, calls for completely destroying Iran's energy network and waiting for them to capitulate and that will come with enormous loss of civilian lives.
I hope I'm wrong or that we find a diplomatic solution.
There is no good way to do this. They'll take extensive casualties ingressing into the country and soon as they're on the ground they'll be swarmed with Shaheeds. The US is not prepared for drone warfare. It's really as simple as that.
They really really want to use nukes, a parachute regiment in deaths to instigate that is no great loss if they get to push the big red button
I've seen nukes floated a few times as a concern. The concern for Americans, and trump is that the war is in the middle east now and affecting troops and allies there. Should nukes be used, it most certainly will lead to domestic attacks withing America's borders. Rather than be the end of war, like in japan, it's would likely be an escalation.
That either leads to civilian death and injuries as well as a climate of fear, or/and rounding up all the Muslim people (irrespective of country or sect) similar to Japanese camps in the past. So, again, the echoes of WW2 are coming.
Totally
Heels on the ground!

Wow.. Don's even losing weight!
It's AI, but he still walks funny, with the heel lifts ans forward leaning stance. Odd.
Looks like he refuses to bend his knees when walking
Yet every day he bends the knee to Israel
Maybe he's moonwalking.
In can't (actually I can) believe maggots thought that the woman here in mini skirt, tights and stiletto heels was a real army woman in an actual uniform
Most obvious deployment ever.
