Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Israel wags the dog one last time.

Strait is closed because we went to war with undefined goals that have now become... Open the strait.

Lives and treasure burned for literally nothing except Israel's bloodyhirst

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 21 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I wonder how many lives per day will be spent to keep the island once it is taken. They act like once they open the strait the war will be over.

[–] mosscap@slrpnk.net 8 points 6 days ago

Probably enough that Iran will retake the island at some point

How exactly does the US defend its troops from Iranian missiles and drones? Are they bringing patriot systems with them, or are they planning to fly jets 24/7 to intercept them?

When Iran decides to go scorched earth and attack every last American boot on the island, what will America do then?

There's literally nothing the US can do, it's basically Romans with the tribal confederacy's of Germanania. Doesn't matter how good your tech or how big your empire is when the people fighting you have home field advantage, out number you locally, and your leaders are inept at best. The best way to win is to not fight, but Trump and everyone around him is too stupid and too bellicose to know this so here we go anyways. I fucking hate the feds with a burning passion, the selfish sociopathic side of me hopes for a civil war so I can kill at least one and get congratulations for it, the humanist side of me thinks that's stupid and hopes for a largely peaceful break up of the United States.

America has ALWAYS been thwarted by guerilla insurgencies, and that's exactly what we are going to be fighting here.

Ignore history, and you are doomed to repeat it, is supposed to be cautionary. For MAGA, it's a game plan.

Trouble not thwarted. The US Marshals and the Army were able to largely deal with the various bandits (my ancestor included), warbands, and insurgents in the American Southwest for example. The problem has largely been a post-WW1 issue due to a doctrine built off of fighting the Germans aka a near peer. Though I wouldn't call the Iranians an insurgency or even guerrilla, their tactics being more akin to Polish or Swiss assymetrical war planning, if you know you can't beat them fair you fight dirty, no shade it's a war of survival and all tactics are valid under such circumstances in my opinion.

Let me guess… Rand Paul, right?

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

I feel like you're right but the article doesn't actually say.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Probably. He's the sole Republican senator that voted for ending the war this time around.

[–] ButtermilkBiscuit@feddit.nl 8 points 6 days ago

The Donald Trump Epstein pedo wars featuring Pete Hegseth and Pissrael with supporting help from all the GOP clowns and judges that made this possible. $1B a day and soon $10 a gallon gasoline brought to you AIPAC. Thanks for this you magat voting fucking morons and all the corporations that lined up to suck Trump's dick after the election. Now the entire world gets to suffer because pedophile clowns are in charge of the US.

@Redditsux What's wrong with the skin on his face? If that's any indication of what's happened to his brain, that explains a lot!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 days ago

His transformation into rotten Spam continues.

And if you think his face is bad, good thing you can't see his brain, it's full of weevils.
