**Search terms for the list ranking include only: “shemale”, “tranny”, “femboy”, and “ladyboy”

They're going to be missing a large chunk by excluding drawn/cartoon/anime type categories and terms like futa.

Although, not sure how well the southern peeps are gonna know any words coming from other cultures to reference what they're looking for.

I think it's interesting that the terms are predominately slur form too, which you'd expect to be more common amongst conservatives.

the article does have this headline but doesn’t actually back it up (convincingly) at all. it seems to thinks googling ‘“shemale”, “tranny”, “femboy”, and “ladyboy”’’ counts as searching for trans porn. kelsey libert doesn’t seem to have any relevant qualifications either

Hell ya! I was worried I was a republican their for a second ( /s ) luckily those are not the terms I use to search for trans porn but like I also show trans people and people regardless of gender respect.

Side note, I get the other terms coming from right wing ignorant assholes but feel femboy is not that bad, am I wrong on this? I have not yet read the article.

We've heard lots of people referring to themselves as femboys. So probably not that bad.

But a femboy (in the context we're used to) isn't a trans woman, it's a boy with feminine qualities, I think (while still being male).

Also, who uses google to search for porn? This research appears to be making a LOT of assumptions about what their data actually represents.

I have a better argument here than they do that based on the number of comments here progressives only look for the facts they want to hear without reading the actual articles /j

Needs to skip the maps and go right to the charts at the bottom. I was thinking this was a junk study since the map was pretty close to just being a population density map until I got down to the charts. Not a surprise since they're measuring volume of searches and that'll always correlate to population.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Doesn't this imply that there are more trans people in Republican areas than non-Republican areas?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

Why would it?

this is just… misinformation. At best, a loosely carried out statistics experiment.

You’ve fallen into a logical of fallacy of confirming the consequent.
