As a Christian, Ive always found it interesting how much Anton La Vey's Satanism reflect the values of the early church as a commentary on the corruption associated more commonly with Catholicism as a denomination, which I've always found incredibly based, even if the chosen mythography of satirization makes me a little irked. Still, I wouldn't take it seriously if I didn't believe either side was "real" either

When I see all those christian pedo-nazis, if I were to believe in all this BS (which I fucking don't), Hell is for sure where I wanna end up. I don't want to spend eternity raping children and shooting people of color in paradise.

so is their food. if drug use, hedonism and gluttony are sins, who is going to cook for them?

See, you get why some of us Cross lackeys are aiming for the Pit. An Eternity in heaven is getting harder to sell by the day with the company it claims.

Religious fruit cakes need to be told what to do.

Believing in yourself is Satanic?

Wow, religious propaganda is so insidious.

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Literally, they want compliant, obedient, non-thinking sycophants. It's what the entire religion is based in, right down to Adam and Eve. It's a cult.

Not to be the douche that links a tedtalk, but extremely relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS7mBbXxJYA

"We don't want women like you"

All religions.

The crazy thing is that the three main religions all derive from the same dumb story of Abraham convincing himself that God wanted him to murder his own son to prove his belief in God.

Luckily some slightly sane part of his mind kept him from doing it, but his delusion convinced him it was God that stayed his hand.

I recently read that up until fairly recently in human history, people didn't understand thinking. They didn't realize it was their own mind coming up with ideas, they literally thought God placed it there. Come up with a good solution to a problem? You didn't think of it, refine it, figure out how to apply it, etc. GOD gave you the idea. They really didn't think they were capable of their own independent thought.

So all three religions worship the exact same God, and believe in the same origin stories, but we still have to genocide all the others because their version of the guy with uncontrolled schizophrenia who tried to murder his son in the name of God, has different nuances than my version.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Whoa whoa whoa... Are we talking the guy with uncontrolled schizophrenia who tried to murder his son in the name of God council of 1879 here, or the guy with uncontrolled schizophrenia who tried to murder his son in the name of God council of 1912?

One person seems to go "um, ackchually, real christians like Barack Obama are not like that".

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Given the fact that Americans were so obsessed with religion it's probably necessary for any politician to pretend to be religious it doesn't mean they actually are.

[–] oatscoop@midwest.social 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

They're not wrong. The new testament is pretty unambiguous on what Jesus was about, and their religion is named after the guy.

Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

The peacenik that willingly sacrificed himself to save people. Someone that repeatedly preached tolerance, kindness to strangers, and that greed is evil. So I have absolutely no problem calling people that don't subscribe to their guy's teachings fake or hypocrites -- especially when there's examples of people that do follow that creed. E.g. Bob Ross, Fred Rogers, Dolly Parton, etc.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I feel satanic. If anything, that's the one thing I would tell others. "Believe in yourself". So WT Fucking F to this poster.

I'll let him drop the mic.

Lucifer is the reasonable one in the Bible, God is the one who wipes out millions for amusement.

Did you know that according to the Bible they hang out and talk shit together? God never hangs out with anyone else.

[–] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

A key reason why the church suppressed education for such a long time in what is now referred to as the dark ages.

If intelligent people were able to read the source material then they would learn what utter shite they were being fed.

Fortunately for religious organisations we now live in a society where most people are able to read the source material but choose not to and blindly follow the words spoken to them.

Satan is not out here murdering 168 school children. Christians are doing that. Satan is not out here raping and genociding its neighbors. Jews are doing that. Satan is not out here murdering peaceful protestors. Muslims are doing that.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Satan doesn't kill a single person in the Bible. Yahweh on the other hand...

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Satan isn't really much of a presence in the Bible at all. Christians made up more shit to have something to blame for everything they don't like.

[–] Demdaru@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Wasn't it that Satan did 4 things?

  • A bit of arrogant rant that he is not gonna serve humans. Got thrown to hell. By all loving father. Yeah.
  • Still pissed, nudged Eve to break the God rule about apple. God had a meltdown and not only banished but also cursed Adam and Eve.
  • Teased Jesus to break his goal. Didn't work.
  • Teased God on few occassions about devotion of humans. Then God made people suffer to prove his point.

Like, Lucifer always seemed to me more like disgruntled old family friend/worker than some evil guy.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

The serpent being Satan was a retcon from the New Testament, too.

Well yes, Thats the propaganda of christianity. Their god doesn’t want you to have independent, critical thought. You’re supposed to do as the authorities tell you, pay your taxes like Jesus TOTALLY said 🙄and be a good citizen and follow the laws. Curious isnt it? Almost as if the texts were altered thousands of times over the years until they fit the views of the people pushing it

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It is essentially a slave religion where you work for next to nothing your entire life in suffering and then you get imaginary rewards in the afterlife.

It is of course a garbage religion that borrowed all of its stories from religions that came before it. Jesus was a doomsday cultist who believed in resurrection on this Earth hence why his cultists staged his resurrection to prove his teachings were true.
