Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

It's been in the news here before but didn't see an actual plot or other visual representation.

Data from here (in Norwegian). Chart made with maplotlib/pywaffle.

Love the chart overall, one nitpick I have though: Please consider putting a source (hyperlink ideally, otherwise citation-style info) at the bottom of the plot.

If people love your viz and download or share it, it becomes nigh-meaningless if the underlying data is not mentioned.

That being said, i will be sharing this around with your source stuck onto it, it's pretty and pretty useful!

The source is in the post. It even says "Data from here"

I know, and I also said I would add that source to my downloaded image.

But if and when people share plots like this, they seize to hold any real value if you can't trace the data and check it's veracity from the image itself

It's a small addition to the plotting code that makes all the difference in not having the plot become an orphan.

Ohh you meant inside the actual image, i see. My bad.

That's a good idea, thanks. This was my first time using PyWaffle so probably rushed things a bit.

I'm guessing a big chunk of the diesel vehicles are for trucking/long-distance travel or for reaching remote(-ish) places

Norway seems well prepared to handle the latest oil crisis.

Don't a lot of their wealth and their jobs come from the oil and gas industries? It (at least used to?) be what fed their sovereign wealth fund IIRC. I definitely have met people who worked on rigs offshore in Norway. I guess that could be seen as a boon if there is more demand/money, but not an environmental win in that sense

There's always a hater) It's like shaming an athlete for his obesity in his youth.

Instead of ruminating and being a coach potato (because: excuses) - taking the situation as a challenge and turning it into an impact.

I wish there was, like any diesel hybrid I could possibly buy.

It wouldn't be a data post without nerds back seat plotting for you
