Types of podcast I listen to:

  • History podcasts (the best type)
  • That one French daily fiction podcast about a fictional city that's a mix of realistic and absurd
  • A woman reads fairy tales and old novels
  • A small group of people (always the same + tye occasional guest) discuss the one thing they're all fascinated by, with a different thematic each day.

I'm glad that of the 90 podcasts I subscribe to, none of them are in this meme

You forgot:

Independent media news show with a hyper-niche ideology covering political developments you had no idea were happening.

And also:

Marathon-length dramatic history reading with a beat-for-beat breakdown of events as they occurred.

Where does "two comedians listen to and critically analyze Alex Jones" fit?

[–] electricyarn@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

A blend of 2, 4 and 6

What about actual play podcasts? The only podcast I listen other is Glass Cannon. Or rather, shows in their network. Its the only place I get my TTRPG fix anymore

My favorite type of podcast is Learn About A Weird Thing, which isn't on this list. Stuff You Should Know is a good one. Word up, Josh & Chuck.

Comedy podcasts about death, Mars news, and a random small English soccer team.

My favorite is friends who bullshit and call each other gay. At one point the comedian was that way. He just huffed his own farts so long he liked the smell.

They also taught me about an eric clapton song I didn't know about, athe one about having a small man go in your ass and control you like a giant robot, or maybe you're really large and the man is regular sized.

They also taught me about the true story of Chris Benoit. It gave me the thousand island stare.

I mean there's also fiction storytelling and radio plays, which is about the only kind of podcast I listen to besides Cautionary Tales.

Where would it be Safety third here?

You completely glossed over podcast that are more dramatically creations or just pure fiction. Something like welcome to night Vale is one of my favorite ones or horror story ones such as SCP archives or the no sleep podcast.

Specialist who knows some topic really well but has no charisma or presentation so is perpetually locked at like 200 listeners.

Interviewer who knows everything about the interviewee like creepy spying levels of detail

Cast that started going through a really long series that morphed and charged into something else over the course of the series review/analysis

What about three white guys just hanging out and talking about the exact same crap they always do, but this time with a microphone in the middle? (This was my old podcast, The Masters of Divinity)

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 5 points 1 week ago

They forgot "random, extremely niche hobby"
