Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

There has also been https://brainmade.org/ for a long time already, which imo points out the human aspect better.

And this is not a paid subscription which noybyai is…

[–] meejle@piefed.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's free for non-commercial use.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

So, free as long as anyone who actually makes a living from their art doesn't use it?

Sounds very helpful to the global art community.

[–] kapkap@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago

yes much better !

Thanks I'll put that one (although they didn't think either to include developers)

You can also just make your own "No AI" badge, or use, like, words to combey that idea, instwad of paying some grifter an ongoing license fee for a PNG.

[–] WaterSword@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah, the Brainmade one is CC0

[–] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is not what it purports to be and is misleading at best. Up to 10% can still be AI and they charge a subscription. It's a grift at best.

[–] uuj8za@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

https://brainmade.org/ also allows some AI usage.

perhaps 90% human made.

they offer a subscription 😂 bloody grifters

Edit:

Q: How do you know if a Not By AI project is truly not created by AI?
A: Through its project page.

A project page provides the space for you to describe your creative approach and convince your audience that your project is human-made. This ensures the authenticity of our badges and builds trust with your audience. By linking your badges to your project page(s), you leverage a centralized system made for human content creators just like you, instead of having to host this crucial information on your own.

yes, a centralised subscription service is my favourite idea <3

also not like they can guarantee that the creator doesn't use AI, so if it goes based on pinky-swear anyway, why tf would creators pay money for something so meaningless...

"free of ai slop"
"made by human"

Did you think about adding an app/software category?
They are flooding the web with sloppy and unmaintainable gas factories...

Oops just saw you expect money to put your badge lol.

I'm not sure what is the benefit for editors ?

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Now do one for identifying things that are free of subscription bullshit!

Oh, wait. Forgot who I was talking to.....

Love how when you go to download the badges it ends up in a 404.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is trained using human-created content. If humans stop producing new content and rely solely on AI, online content across the world may become repetitive and stagnant.

Sounds less like "we want to uplift human work" and more like "we are desperate for a clean training data, because the slop generators are all over the internet rn"

Besides, it's a grift subscription service as others pointes out.

If you want to label your work, may I suggest a much better alternative:

Am I the only one who feels stuff like this is kind of thing is just virtue signalling? Not just badges, even though I agree with the sentiment it always kind of irks me when artists make a point to proclaim, usually unprompted, that they don't use AI. I can't explain it.

[–] kazerniel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think a lot of artists get swamped by comments asking if their work is AI in recent years, so they just put it out there proactively, to have to deal with less of these accusations.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I guess I can see that for graphic artists since their work gets more directly plagerized
