I remember one night, very late, long after some rain had fallen, a lone worm was on the dry sidewalk. Wanting to lead it back to soil, I ran in, grabbed a cup of water, and poured it gently along the concrete in a path leading back to the grass. It made it home. For those few minutes, I got to enjoy friendship with a worm.

I know some ungrateful worms
Why "girls" tho?
Right? I'm, a 40 year old man and I do this.
Babe, would you love me if I was a grateful worm?
Not just girls. Boys (and now grown men) do this as well. Just sayin'
Earthworms are a destructive, invasive species in North America. If you live in North America, you should probably just let then die.Source
That particular species, yes. Earthworms are a cornerstone and a requirement for nutrient transfer in soil.
From your source: Of the 182 taxa of earthworms found in the United States and Canada, 60 (33%) are introduced species.
