Install gmail, and add it from there.

Hello! When you go to add account, you get those choices: Microsoft, AOL, Google, etc. if you punch the Google one, you get a login which asks for your Google ID, but submitting it breaks it: “Login” appears over what you’ve just entered and it doesn’t submit.
Adding manually also doesn’t work. It says “Google can’t be reached now” or some such.
