Explanation: The "Luftwaffe" was the Nazi German air force in WW2.

The German word waffe - "weapon" - sounds/looks a bit like waffeln - "wafers"

I think we still call air force part of Bundeswehr like that. Because luftwaffe = air weapon and that not really change.

I once saw a comment under a video about linguistics of an American who said they mixed up the words "Waffen" and "Waffeln" while in Germany, and they were the American who told the Germans that they eat guns for breakfast.
