This is my second shave with Moon Soaps. The first time around, I wasn't that impressed. This time I used the more-soap-more-water approach and it turned out really nice. The scent was kind of low during the shave but after (with aftershave), it has pleasantly followed me throughout the day.

The scent is low-to-mid strength, but has that smoky, balmy feel to me that might be the Havana seaside as the sun goes down. I bloom this soap before use. It brings out the fragrance more.

March 20, 2026 -- Martin de Candredi

  • Brush: Simpsons Chubby 2 Jade 27mm HMW
  • Razor: Geneva Cutlery Co. Heavy 5/8 Hollow Ground Square Point
  • Razor: Geneva Cutlery Co. Henry's X 5/8 Hollow Ground Square Point
  • Lather: Martin de Candre - Fougère - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
  • Aftershave: Fabergé - Brut - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Creed - Green Irish Tweed

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Today was another test of two Irish slates stones. Both razors had a White Tam O' Shanter edge. About all I learned from the shave was that the two razors I used have a slightly grind.

Martin de Candre Fougère is really underappreciated in my collection. I need to use it more.

I do what I do best and stole @PorkButtsNTaters666@wetshav.ing idea 🤫

And I failed you again in not joining you 😱

[–] gcgallant@wetshav.ing 3 points 2 weeks ago

No worries. I'll be doing a lot more of these. It has renewed my appreciation for MdC Fougère. If @djundjila@wetshav.ing becomes active again, this is the type of thing he would enjoy imo.

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations - w/AP Shave Co. Cashmere 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Gold Dollar Straight Razor - 7/8 Half Hollow (5)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Santa Noir - Soap
  • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Musk - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Friends to the End - Balm

Pretty decent results. I have to focus on technique to get a close shave with this edge. I choose to see that as a good thing... an opportunity to learn.

1st pass WTG 2nd pass WTG. Taking down 6 days of growth, and I ended up being in a hurry as I forgot about dinner with my girlfriend's mom tonight. A socially acceptable shave - 1 weeper on the moustache area.

I'm not feeling confident about using this blade for a 3rd try but I'm telling myself that it was only so irritating because I was in a hurry/the hairs were so long.
