Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

“This is how we should order our lives together,” he said. “And frankly, yes, we are going to impose it upon you. If you don’t like it, I’m sorry, but this is good and right and just if it lines up with God’s standards, and I am going to enforce my morality on you in as much as our morality is God’s morality.”

“You should always check yourselves,” he continued. “Do I believe what God believes? Am I defending what God says is good?”

“And if it is, then you should have the courage to say, ‘This is how we’re going to run our town, this is how we’re going to run our county, this is how we’re going to run our state, and this is how we should run the United States of America by legislating the morality that we can find in the Bible.'”

The non Harris voters here defiantly standing on their own in the corner pretending this is somehow equal to Harris being president are pathetic.

Let's be real, you had to be bad at your job to loose that race. It's pathetic we're making excuses for our "leaders" when they led us down this path for so long. Still would vote for her again though .

If it’s “love thy neighbor,” then great.

If it’s “be bigoted pieces of shit,” then I’m sorry, but hail Satan— and I meant “sorry” as earnestly as you meant it, fucko.

These are the same people projecting that respect for others living their own lives was shoving DEI down their throats.

This ghoulish misanthrope can't comprehend that god didn't make us all different so we could all live the same cookie cutter life

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Christian values like pedofilia, trafficking children, committing genocide, embezzlement, Zionism, Treason, state sponsored terrorist gang to brutalize the stranger the Bible told you to protect, cutting food assistance, stripping healthcare from millions and actual baby murder? Hard pass

Just imagine if Armageddon happens and God appears on Earth and they find out that God is a black trans woman with a furry girlfriend who is bisexual.

Which God? Whose God?

I for one think this man is a literal Devil-worshiper. If your religion leads you to hate, you're worshiping Satan. Gay people exist because God wants gay people to exist. It is the height of hubris to dare to question the will of the Almighty. If God didn't want people to be gay, he wouldn't make gay people.

This man is going to Hell. There he will join his master in the Pit.

Yeah, I mean some people are trying to bring back the pet rock, doesn't mean it's going to work.

Most people are tired of religion and all of its hypocritical rules and guidelines. Then you learn that a large portion of leaders in religions are pedophiles and abusers.

No real "OOOOOOOHHH SHINYYY" moment for people to want to join.

I've always thought of jesusians as predatory because they target the most vulnerable people for their brainwashing.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Just like Republicans... religion has outlived its usefulness and the only way to remain is to force your ideas on people....fucking assholes need to all go live in Oklahoma or Missouri together and create their perfect Utopia of ignorance, racism and hate.

[–] returningtheday@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Wouldn't have too much of a problem if they actually had fucking morals.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Okay, yes, but Harris didn’t support the proletariat enough.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Religious freaks always claim that their religion gives them a moral center, and atheist have no moral center, and they don't understand why atheists aren't out raping and pillaging all the time.

Or maybe they are, and they're all helping each other hide it. That's it, all the problems in the world are caused by secret atheists with no moral center, not the people starting a multi-faith Holy World War 3 to kick off The Rapture. It's all the Atheists' faults.

If you don’t like it, I’m sorry

...as Jesus himself so famously said, of course.

Good luck. This is a stupid hill to die on. A huge chunk of Gen Z identifies under the LGBT umbrella (around one in three.) There's no going back.

So eating shrimp will be a capital crime?

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

More so than storming it when an election doesn't go your way.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 1 week ago

They can't even impose Christian values on themselves. And that's what I've noticed about control freaks: those who can't control themselves will absolutely try to control everyone else. Virtue by proxy is a hell of a vice.

Hmmm sounds familiar.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

As is tradition.

[–] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Assuming he actually believes this, he just needs to extend that logic one tiny step forward. A more plausible explanation is he knows that it isn't true but still needs some sort of argument that explains the regime's repugnant behaviour. Those are your dismal options. Reminds me of that South African leader who claimed he was raping girls as a cure for AIDS because raping girls has bad optics.
