Back in the day I subbed two episodes of an anime for a convention. I'd really like to see this anime again. But, as this was about 25 years ago, I remember next to nothing about it. I'm pretty sure there was an invasion and there was a boy caught in the middle of it. The anime must've been new at the time, as a friend imported it himself to show new stuff at the convention.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I truly don't remember anything else about this, despite spending so much time subbing it. I remember doing subtitles in different colors, but not the anime itself.

Wooooo! Glad I could help. Haven't watched it in years myself, but I remember it being a pretty good space opera. There are at least two sequels as well, Banner of the Stars 1 and 2.

Sorry, completely blank. I remember some planet, a boy, a fight or invasion and the boy trying to escape. I must've done this for a convention in 2000, so it can't be anything older. And I am pretty sure it was a new release at the time.

Just looked it up, and no, that's not it. I distinctly remember some sort of attack in the first two episodes. I think it was on some colony on another planet.

It sounds like the start of Gundam except your timeline doesn't match up as far as I know
