Truly the only two options: trench warfare with either people or robots.
Current Pentagon protocols decree automated systems can engage only with a human green light, and Foundation insists that is also its intention for Phantom.
That is the dumbest moral justification I've ever heard.
humanoid soldiers offer a more resilient alternative, with greater restraint and precision. Robots do not suffer from fatigue or fear and can operate continuously in extreme conditions while immune from radiation, chemicals, or biological agents.

Right that robot battery that doesn't require charging ever. I love how we've already invented that.
But.... they'll operate on builtin mini nuclear reactors, just like submarines. They'll go years without recharging!
