So apparently the US decommissioned its tested fiberglass hull design, and the new ones are trash.

"Moved to"... I am only familiar with sailing boats, but I wonder: there's an awful lot of nautical miles from the middle East to the Pacific, how long would it take for a warship to make that journey?

They ain't your average 4 knot-shit-box. I think I saw that the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier was traveling to the middle east at 25 knots or something.
