Oh great, so there's should be an economic collapse and housing crash right around the corner!

[–] comador@lemmy.world 37 points 2 weeks ago

Coming soon to an economy near you.

[–] SomeAmateur@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't worry housing won't crash until I buy a place, THEN it will be the best pricing in decades

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

Please take one for the team, it's too expensive for me rn

I keep telling people: if you live in town go outside at like 2 am and fire a couple round into the dirt. Regular gunfire reduces property rates and can be used as leverage to keep rent low.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Please read your local laws before doing this, as discharging a firearm within city limits is a crime in many places.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have been informed this is a crime. I quite frankly am shocked and appalled at my suggestion. Unfortunately my fingers are cramping quite hard so I don't know if I'll be able to remove or edit my post, it's quite tragic.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I knew your comment was tongue in cheek, I just wanted to add a disclaimer for anyone who thought it was a good suggestion to lower their property taxes.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Wasn't trying to be disrespectful, just gotta be safe online :) I really did appreciate the disclaimer, I should've added it.

Almost certainly an economic one. Most of our "economy" (stock value, but the media and owners treat this as if it's the economy) is tied up in just a few companies, and all of those company's value are most AI. I'm reasonably confident there will be an AI crash, which will tank stock values and everyone with investments in these companies.

I'm not so sure if there will be a housing market collapse.

The writers of Earth have really given up. They kept implying some cool sci fi universe flip but it’s just cyberpunk dystopia with repeating plot lines.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The American plot line didn't work out. They were not that popular with the main audience and seen as too loud and obnoxious. The story is moving focus to Asia. It was a major influence of cyberpunk after all.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

America is the world’s Homer! You can’t kill Homer!

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Simpsons one? Or the Greek?

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

The Simpsons one, obv

Actually we fired all the creatives and replaced them with a large language model trained primarily on social media posts.

[–] comador@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

They're still working on the plot for that, but are feeding us reruns in the meantime.

[–] rImITywR@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Cyberpunk dystopia without the cool neon aesthetics.

[–] Psychodelic@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Scary Movie 6 is coming out?! You just made my day!

[–] Mim@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait, they made a fifth one?!?

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Wait, they made a fourth one?

[–] Mim@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago

Sadly, yes.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait, they made a third one?

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

Wait, they made a second one?

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago

Trailer even looked pretty good, I'm cautiously optimistic. Though if the surname Wayans is in it I'm just gonna watch it anyway at this point.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This is the real reason we are where we are.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago

Best part is that the leader before the coup was actually very progressive and now they have... The revolutionary guard. So things went from good to bad to worse between that guy, the shah and now the current regime, all thanks to the anglos.

[–] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Also, new Stargate, Pushing Daisies and Firefly are on the horizon.

Our precious American culture of escapism and privilege. ☠️ We literally fund the world's evilest to have the ability to be evil and pretend we don't.

[–] Underwaterbob@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Now I wonder what modern horror movies I've got to be up on to understand all the references that will inevitably be in the new Scary Movie.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Scream of course!

But honestly I don't know. I haven't kept up on them

[–] Underwaterbob@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Same. In the past few years I've watched Hereditary and The Ritual. Both were pretty good.

Nothing ever ends.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Idk I almost got laid. Which...

Oh. Oh fuck. Oh my fucking fuck. I swear to fucking God.

If, in two weeks time... Good Lord. I might be in a simulation.

The universe used up too many plotlines.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What happened to you 20 years ago, just after almost getting laid?

We need to know!

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

No, no sorry for the confusion.

The resources are being recycled. I lost my virginity in two weeks 20 years ago.

Im in a relatively new relationship that is... progressing at the exact pace that it will be in the same timeline. Though it could literally be next week depending if I screw shit up enough or not.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

We just finished another watch of scrubs too!

[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ah America. If there was a war twenty years ago in North America (Canada) and a war today in North America (USA), you might not feel like oh shi Deja Vu.
