This is great, I just have a few questions:

A.) Does it still affect menstrual cycles 2.) Does we still have to put up with werewolves? Last.) What if I still want to dance in the moonlight and feel warm and bright on some nights and not feel uptight cause everbody's dancing in the moonlight?

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A.) Yes, the effect on menstrual cycles comes from photons the moon emits, not the light. These will be unaffected

2.) No, you will be allowed to shoot them once it is complete

Last.) You could simply travel to the other side of the moon, there the light would still be

[–] poke@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Will this impact the moon cheese mines?

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

All the moon cheese mines have been exhausted in the 2004 great moon cheese eating, so I don't see how they would be relevant

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What about new, undiscovered deep well cheese? We could build new mines. Would this affect these mines?

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The lemmings yearn for the cheese mines. Anyway, yes such mining efforts would likely be rendered impossible, however it is predicted that humanity will be able to access the frozen cheese on mars in a few years, leading to an era of great prosperity and great cheese

Are you unbiased in this matter despite your connections to big cheddar? I prefer moon gouda.

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

As the Marquis de Camembert once said: "Shut your gouda ass up"

You already are, they're using your social security for it. Thank God.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Could we possibly kill more men? It doesn't really feel like a mega project unless the death toll is in the millions.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do they have to be men? Children has a better ring to it.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I would also like to get some animals involved with that part of things. Dogs have had it good for too long.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Amen. Dogs should be illegal.

But what about meteorites? How can you promise I will never see it again without a planetary defense system?

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They're called meteors, you drill bit. How can we take your feedback on the moon tarp project seriously if you don't know the difference between meteors and meteorites? SMH people these days

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And what about the meteorites on the moon that would have had to travel through the tarp first?

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

We don't need to worry about those because they're already meteorites. We only have to worry about them while they're meteors.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But who knows what the moon people will get up to unless we have free and open line of sight to keep an eye on them?

[–] Nusm@peachpie.theatl.social 7 points 2 weeks ago

Finally, someone asking the important question.

This isn't going to cure tides, you know.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

You can’t say that for sure! We don’t know until we try!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

what about piles?

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 5 points 2 weeks ago

Is schizo posting leaking again?

[–] omega_x3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

That is just too much effort, just blow the damn thing up.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Does it have to be on the moon? Couldn't we just place a geostationary tarp satellite up there? We could save a lot of AI generated bitcoin I'd bet. /s

[–] Sir_Premiumhengst@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Put it in the Lagrange point

[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

This made me wonder what it would actually look like.

It would be so big, would it curve around with the Lagrange point?

Would it be significant enough to see with the naked eye?

Would we see ripples or waves cause by other gravitational forces. Could it be used to detect gravitational waves?

That would be cool. Except the whole, "not seeing the moon anymore" thing.

Can you imagine the energy you would need to keep something like that from drifting off and or bunching up under its own mass?

[–] bandwidthcrisis@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Isn't that twice as much tarp as you need? 10801080pi for a circle the same size.

It is double-layered for enhanced durability

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

We declare victory over the tarp - unrelated, we are sending 20,000 young people to attack the tarp.

[–] herrvogel@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Are we still going to be allowed to moon people once this project is complete? I need to know because that might require me to make changes to my daily routine.

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

You will be required to install a personal tarp.
