I need some advice from someone who's more knowledgeable than me.

I am on 2019 intel macbook and I have been planning on an upgrade for awhile now. I am not too fussed on the "latest and greatest" since what I really want is just long battery life.

My normal use for a macbook is graphics design, web development/coding, illustrator, etc. And 20-30 tabs opened on Google Chrome at any given time.

I know for a fact that any spec on the M-series line up can handle what I throw at it since my intel can also handle what I am throwing at it right now.

But what I really want to know is if anybody knows if the M2 and M3, whichever is better, can play some games like World of Tanks and World of Warships? I have recently broken my gaming PC, so my macbook is the only working machine in the house and I have been stuck not being able to play any games now. I am thinking this overdue upgrade might be a good opportunity to turn me into 1-laptop-rules-all kind of deal.

Any thoughts of M2 vs M3 comparison in relation to World of Tanks etc.?

crap, these numbers don't look good, it's ok, just compare it to a laptop from 3 years ago..... boom

Still just 8gb of ram, though?

We'll be in trouble when they get to the M5.

Let's see how many know that reference.

Is it true the M3 Pro is less powerful than the M2 Pro?

Okay so unpopular opinion, but there biggest improvement here is the hardware ray tracing. The rest is just a small optimization.

I’m hoping that hardware ray tracing will encourage more developers to make games for MacOS.

I have a M1 Pro 16gb… I do heavy editing for my photography which still handles it very well, kinda tempting to go m3 route but maybe I’ll wait for another year.

Disappointing that M3 still maxes out at 24GB.

I want a fanless 32GB Mac. I don't need the extra CPU power consumption from M3 Pro just to go above 24GB.

Fuck sake Apple, I really want a new MBP but why do you keep sticking 8GB ram in these machines. I honestly don’t care about the integrated management, the SOC architecture, 8GB is just really tight at this price point. It’s not user replaceable and in 2/3 years down the line I’d rather not have to upgrade because it no longer handles the workloads. I love Apple, I’ve worked for Apple, I’ll always use Apple, but christ my iPhone has about the same RAM as MacBook Pro. It’s just shit. Cmon.
