The Google Play store is likely to be demonstrably far, far worse

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 weeks ago

this probably happens with every software repository to some degree. lots of talk about exploits being spread through npm, aur. it's normal to some degree

If the FBI is involved, it means EA probably paid them to take out a rival

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

More like Epic, Sony, and/or Microslop

[–] DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca 32 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They really are desperate to get rid of Steam, huh?

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 34 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Seems that way. Someone clearly close to the government and probably the EA deal is hell bent on eliminating Steam, not through competition, but through political leverage and bullshit lawsuit after lawsuit.

The investors who own the AAA market want steam gone because they distribute the indie games that are destroying the AAA market. Our current administration is fully of cronies who do the bidding of the ultra wealthy.

Wild, they have will and resources to go for this—but not a literal pedophile cabal. The FBI just needs to be defunded and dismantled.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago

No, they have the resources. It's just that the people in charge are telling them to ignore it.

So strange isn't it, how multiple different levels of US govt entities are so interested in this private company. Surely they only have good intentions in mind. SURELY.

What I hate are the "people" who totally aren't partially composed of astrosurfers who act like Valve is the big baddie and can't see what's happening. It's sort of what happened to Google, but arguably they had it more deserved.

A system is what it does and all that

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

A valve is a device or natural object that regulates, directs or controls the flow of a fluid by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 weeks ago

kusner/saudis have a vested interest.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Almost like is it's the largest game distribution platform in the country or something.

[–] MigratingApe@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 2 weeks ago

So, like, all games with Denuvo and kernel level anti cheat, right? Right?!

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 19 points 2 weeks ago

Every game with EAC and Denuvo?

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

This bullshit is going to keep on happening until Steam goes public and Jared Kushner gets on its board.

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

So where is the list? Article listed a few but insinuated there is a larger list.
