After several years of operation, we are shutting down all YGGtorrent / YGG services (website, tracker, and infrastructure). The relaunch we had initially planned is now abandoned, as we lack the necessary conditions to continue the project amidst repeated cyberattacks.

We apologize to the community and extend our warmest thanks to everyone who supported YGGtorrent / YGG with respect and kindness.

The individual responsible for the intrusion and data leak has been identified. The details can be viewed here.

No return is planned. Beware of sites or services presenting themselves as alternatives in the coming weeks: most of them are malicious. Stay vigilant.

Gr0lum shouldn't have revealed the IP addresses of YGG moderators and could have handled aspects of the leak better, but the YGG admin's rebuttal post is undermined by disgusting transphobia:

The rules of the competing tracker, set up by these same individuals, clearly show their true colors: anyone who doesn't buy into their woke ideological vision isn't welcome. "LGBTQI+ phobias" are placed on the same level as fascism or racism, and any "debate" on the subject is purely and simply forbidden. In other words, if you're not comfortable with the idea of dad putting on mom's wig, you're not welcome on their platform.

The Dirty Details:

Massive Profit: Admins make €5M–€8.5M/year while volunteers work for free. Money is laundered via Tornado Cash and Monero.
Security Risks: The site contains code to fingerprint crypto wallets and likely skims credit card data. Users report massive bank fraud after donating.
"Turbo Mode" Scam: The recent 5-download limit (or pay €86) was a forced cash grab. They used "honeypots" to auto-ban anyone trying to bypass it.
Sabotage: Evidence shows YGG admins DDoS’d rival trackers (Sharewood, La Cale) to kill competition.
Total Incompetence: The hacker got in because the admin left a search port open and stored the Windows Admin password in plain text

In this thread: anti-"woke" commenter decries the fall, another commenter posts about how they're normalizing hate, and you're over here documenting it as a crypto scam.

Its almost like any time someone hates "the gays" or "the transes" or anyone, they're out to steal from you for agreeing with them.

If this ended with more broke hatemongers, I'd say "look, nature is healing!" The problem is that means there's someone who got rich off of a financial incentive to spread hate, and they won't stop spamming that out into the world so easily. And gullible rubes will just pick that up and think its normal.
