Im not sure I have them anymore. Downtime is to precious so what would be my hobbies at this point are relaxing and enjoying simple things. I mean I don't feel video games or watching media would be hobbies but if you ever saw my responses to what are you playing or watching you will see I don't exactly consume it a lot in a week. which maybe doing it less would make it more of a hobby in that case. I dunno. I do very much try my best to figure out what I can do among my options that interest me the most.

Making stuff with my 3D printer and CNC milling machine. And petting cats.

Lately of a poem-writing spree, with words toying, feeling very free, I've been enjoying greatly.

I make pretty things out of wood.

[–] spittingimage@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

I make gaming terrain out of cardboard and other household junk! ...not very successfully. But every attempt is better than the last.

Same. Plenty of free hobbies exist though. Hiking, learning a language, identifying plants (check your local weather service if you can contribute your findings), geocaching, streetcomplete, attending a communal board game night or gardening group. Libraries hold all kind of events for all walks of life.

Some sort of political engagement can also be fun and additionally help find friends. There's cryptoparty to teach about privacy. Some environmental groups host day trips with volunteers to clear or repopulate strips of land. You can ask your library if you can offer a workshop of some skill you possess.

There is honestly so much free stuff that I didn't know about yet a couple of years ago.

  1. Cooking

  2. Reconditioning old audio equipment

  3. Tabletop Role Playing Games. Rolled my first character back in 1978.

  4. Running... Kind of... I just completed Couch to 5K and am working on 10k now. I'm just doing it to help my health and not really trying to be a serious runner.

In terms of hobbies I would say photography, videography, generally messing around with computers and other electronics.
I also enjoy casually cycling and driving, as well as traveling to see new places in general. Usually I combine that with the photography and videography.
