Distilling value down into a single metric causes lots of problems. I think some people have been talking about that for a while now.

I'd like to see these rankings distinguish between good "learning" universities and "research" universities (and also the infamous "lifestyle" universities, which focus on the experience). Each of these components serves different purposes. Some learning universities have great academics who love to teach, but never produce enough research to compete.
