  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world

I don't mean gross stuff like SomethingAweful.

I'm talking someone's fever dream neocities page that details how to make a UFO engine using element 115.

A blog that is wild conspiracy stuff that has aged like fine wine.

Or some serial forum post that makes no sense but seems too complex to be performative.

17776 is a good example, if you're not familiar.

It's not really that weird, but is a funny classic (around for at least 25 years) and I am still not completely sure if it is meant seriously or not.

It's basically a very detailed online course on how to apply butter to a pretzel:

I like it. It's fun. But, is it normal to slice a pretzel in half laterally like that?

It's the most popular take-away snack food in Southern Germany, so yeah, totally common!
It's also the most stereo-typical Bavarian food that I know of, besides Weißwurst.

In my city there are even booths scattered all over town selling nothing but sliced pretzels filled with dozens of different topings you can choose from.

The butter one is still GOAT, though.
You can get it in every bakery.

But how would I ever find this....Lemmy? It sounds so strange and mysterious!

I don't want to know what they have to say, I want to know what Lemmites have to say.

Reddit would say "The Fediverse" anyway.

Hey, I found Lemmy on Reddit. I'll never go back to reddit, but that's where I heard about this wonderful place!

A self-described genius decides that marine reserves do not work, and creates his own parallel science theories to explain trends in marine science. His most important discovery: The Dark Decay Assay which I think is him putting seawater in a test tube and measuring its pH over time.

I visited his laboratory/cafe/aquarium in real life, just out of curiosity. Almost all the aquariums were empty, and they served me the worst coffee I've ever had.

A really well done parody version of Windows...

Oh, the Windows default sounds give me flashbacks

WELCOME. TO ZOMBOCOM.

THIS IS... ZOMBOCOM

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Looks like the OG is finally gone. RIP

New one is up with similar spirit but it's not the same. https://zombo.com/

[–] inlandempire@jlai.lu 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh wow even the audio isn't the same

Yeah, I had to look up a video of the old song and now I totally remember seeing this site literally 20ish years ago.

I know it will upset people to say, but I like both songs. BUT - the original site was specific satire. The new song is epic, but doesn't have the same social critique.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

This song just radicalized me to whatever happens when the "loading" bar finishes.

Edit: And now I'm part of the inner circle, so that's cool. I'm going to put that on my resume.

I found out about icum.to (not porn but does have at least one NSFW image) on Lemmy at some point. It has some pretty good videos and the website is interesting but also a little weird. I've definitely been amused looking about.

Wow, this young woman has recreated the vibe of 1999 internet perfectly. I'm all in.

Her manifesto certainly has some, uh, takes

The official website of the KGB of Belarus. It's still up today (kgb.by), but I used the Wayback Machine because I don't trust that and also it's http. It's still designed like it's from 2000.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

That's a brilliant get!

I went to the grocery store one evening and as I was walking towards the store, some guy pulled into the parking lot in one of those creepy old white vans. It was plastered with bible verses, stuff about anti LGBTQ+, anyone not Christian is evil, etc. It had a few pro Russia anti Ukraine stickers. I snapped a quick few pictures of the van and went grocery shopping. Guy looked like a typical religious weirdo so whatever.

Later, I was looking at the pics and saw a website. I went to the website and it’s the weirdest fucking shit I’ve ever seen. Like old geocities style all about how to identify the antichrist, anti trans, anti vaccine, anti climate change, anti science everything, just so much crazy conspiracy theory nonsense. I bookmarked it and saved a pdf copy of the website so I can go back once in a while and see if he updates it.

It was just so fucking weird that I wouldn’t be surprised if dude was involved in some weird pedo religious BS.

There was a hilarious one about four corners theory similar to time cube but I can't recall it sadly

Thank you - I love these all.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get footprints on the walls!
