Only acceptable answers: battery life to performance ratio and apple’s ecosystem.
If they didnt charge an arm and a leg for things like ram and storage I’d get one, but that shit is absurd!!

Because I'm pretty sure my laptop still will be rock solid in five years.
Great quality, reliable software update model, and if you own an iPhone and do video/photo/social media AirDrop is a must; can’t go back.
Because I’m a developer and I prefer Mac over windows
MacOS is the single greatest OS ever known to man. Macbooks are better built than any other laptop in the market. The ecosystem integration is great.
That pretty much sums it up.
For Ableton, I wanted to make music on a clear screen.
my wife works for apple and has the M1 Macbook Air, she has it for school purposes. I prefer tablets, I use my Ipad for work among other convenient features, but different people have different purposes to get a laptop, just not for me. Ipad suits me for ease and convenience.
wanted to learn to program Swift/iOS stuff.
love the hardware, but I'd prefer Win11 over MacOS.
Yeah yeah shoot me.
Severely underpowered for what I do and none of my software will run on Mac.
i like how smooth they are, i don’t know how to explain it.
My mid 2014 is a top of the line MacBook at that time. Still works great today.
One thing I really do not like is Apple blocked me from upgrading to latest os. Makes no sense since, this laptop can deff run latest os 2.8 quad core, 16gb ram, GeForce 2gb. Literally runs like new! But I’m stuck on Big Sur.
long-term durability and battery duration
I used a 2014 model untill a month ago, so it was almost 10 years old. It still worked like new, even better than a normal laptop i bought 2 years ago. I only upgraded (to a macbook M2) because i needed more ram for my study, but macbooks are an investment fr.
Fully color managed desktop environment including compositing SDR & HDR content together correctly at the same time. Reference display modes. Accelerated ProRes codec in hardware. I pull it out on set for gigs I get hired for and it performs, no bs.
Where to start?
- Supported long term (many years of OS updates).
- OS-wide unified smooth scrolling, zooming, back forward gestures.
- Awesome touchpad still unmatched in precision by Windows Precision Touchpads
- Additional multi touch gestures and actions with BetterTouchTool
- So many cool continuity features, use iPhone as a camera, iPad as secondary screen etc.
- Unified calling/facetime/messages across all devices at the carrier level (not tethered to phone)
- Battery life much better than competition
- Run 4 4k screens plus laptop screen with "Max" chip
- 400Mbps memory bandwidth with "Max" chip (super fast machine!)
- DEVONthink (OCR PDF file cabinet document system with iOS apps and synchronization).
- Apple photos synchronizing everything to all devices.
- Never worry about a single software update bricking my laptop. Never worry about maintenance/longevity. 4 Macbook pros each lasting 9+ years at current rate (I buy once every 5 years and SO gets hand-me-downs, very economically viable, everyone is happy).
- THREE FINGER DRAG with the touchpad!!!
I haven’t, but sometime in the near future I will.
I’m a photographer and I have yet to find an efficient system for getting photos from my laptop to my phone. I have an iPhone so if I had a MacBook I could do this with like three clicks.
Mac OS just works. I don’t need to fiddle with Settings to make it work. It stays out of my way when I need to do work
I had MacBook Pro years back. Best laptop I ever had. That thing never crashed except the time it fell off a tall table. I was certain it was done, but nothing was wrong with it. I would love a MacPro, but the price is just too high. Secondly, I got mad at Apple when they started making it, so you couldn't add ram or upgrade things like you can with pc.
Hadn’t touched a Mac before my first desk job then had to use MacBook Air because that’s all they used. But then fell in love with the Unix os for the terminal and how well everything usually just works not much need to fiddle with things here and there. And I like that it doesn’t automatically start updating at random times.
Cuz it’s pretty. I got a MacBook Pro 15” with the 2.6ghz and amd Radeon graphics and touchbar back in 2016 and it’s going strong. I still use it to do all of my photography and videography editing and it only has one sign of aging, the fan. It sounds like it’s hitting the casing when it kicks on.
Speed do not degrade like Windows machines over time
I was stupid
Once you go Mac you never go back! Haha.
I’ve had 2 iMac desktops and 2 Mac laptops, absolutely loved them all! They’re quality and great computers. The interface is easy to use. Apple Support has been fairly helpful in situations.
I got my first iPhone while in college. It made sense to get a mac laptop as well. I do photography and was needing a bigger screen so I got my first iMac. After many years I upgraded my laptop and iMac to new versions.
After being blindsided by the breakup of a long-term relationship, I bought the old white MacBook as one step (among many) in reinventing myself and reimagining my life without this person. Been hooked on Apple products ever since.
I bought a MacBook Pro in 2008. Got slow a few years ago so I upgraded (doubled my RAM) and it was almost like new again with the exception a taking a little longer to reboot. Fell asleep at the wheel and spilled my glass of wine onto the keyboard. Game over. But got 15 years with that machine.
The quality and power in a tiny package with an incredible display. It’s fantastic!
windows has a thing called dpc latency, it can be a major issue if laptop maker is lazy and pushes bad drivers. Problem seems to be getting more prevalent to the point where it's really hard to find a laptop that doesn't have this problem these days. It makes real time audio work impossible. I was basically forced to either use Linux or get a MacBook.
I hate apple and everything they stand for, but I hate not being able to make music even more. I'm sure I could save some money and get a lot more power for my dollar, but it wasn't worth the hassle.
Apple ecosystem
Regretful, Apple customer service and Genius Bar is incompetent and colludes with other parties.
