What do you like about Old World compared to other historical 4X games.
Tot his day I still play Civ IV / V (and their extensive library of mods, with my favourite being the Dune total conversion for Civ IV).
compared to other historical 4X games, I particularly like the orders system, which minimizes micro-management and late-game slog, and the characters/families/events, which keeps you on your toes as things are always changing both internally and externally.
it's been a while since i played Civ 4 or 5 but i loved them too when i used to play them!
and the characters/families/events
I actually haven't heard about this.
I don't mind the late game micro and giant list of task assignments. I play late game Civ as a management game.
just to clarify: there's still a ton to do each turn in Old World, you just have a limited number of "Orders" you can issue each turn, so you usually can't move every single unit and worker every turn, which forces the player to prioritize and creates a fun extra layer of strategy
