Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

MODERATORS

The White House posted a photo of Trump alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of Personnel Dan Scavino, and other administration officials on its X account on Saturday evening. The photo shows a makeshift room surrounded by black curtains and multiple maps of the region.

Jesus H Fucking Christ. This is a security violation, severe damage to national security, complete incompetence and insult to all of us who take national security seriously of epic proportions.

Also leaving couch fucker in vice president actually in charge in the situation room is such a dereliction of duty.

I only wish we could have gotten a TV with a live Xitter search feed for "Iraq" in the background again. Yes, again. (Apologies for YouTube link.)

[–] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Is that lighter or heavier than "slammed"

[–] Stamau123@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

He already did it before with Venezuela

[–] WesternInfidels@feddit.online 4 points 1 month ago

Look, it's simple: He never got to play "blanket fort" as a kid, so this is only fair.

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Well, what if he wants to play some golf after bombing a girls school, hm? Have you ever thought of that? So inconsiderate of you...

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I mean it’s pretty vulnerable so we got that going for us

[–] OriginEnergySux@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Look it wouldnt surprise me if the US military does its 'own thing' and keeps the president in the loop - but i doubt he had anything to do with anything from anywhere, except get a photo taken.

The point is that it's not secure, so other people could snoop, especially since it's a semi public club.

[–] OriginEnergySux@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Oh I know, I was just doubting the fact that his room was probs just a photo shoot with not much useful info even if anyone was snooping.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Oh they are just mad thst their plans of terrorism are not better hidden

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 2 points 1 month ago

The guys in the back peeking in the curtains “Sir? Mr Pursidunt sir? We’ve got Belaniu on the line, she says it’s urgent about her movie.”

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

By next year he'll be doing the same thing from a nursing home

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I thought that's what Mar A Lago is for him

[–] kittykillinit@lemy.lol 2 points 1 month ago

We need to make sure to include the Rubios when the guillotines come out.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

He looks bad

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Could a been easier to get at him there instead of the pentagon or d.c.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Airforce one is equipped to be a proper mobile presidential command center. And it is a secure space.

This is your take from the whole situation? Security violation? Not unprovoked attack, the numbers of dead people including children? Would it have been better if he was in a congress appointed bunker.

Fuck yankistan. You show how you're pathetically shallow and lack empathy are every passing day.

The idea is that if there were appropriate checks on his power, he wouldn't have attacked Iran. So the former is a mechanism to achieve the latter. This article is part of a larger system of signalling mechanisms that previously worked to reduce the number of countries blown up by the US, but which is collapsing in light of deteriorating socio-material conditions.
