I remember when the Sharks traded for him. I was young at the time, and my older brother was very into hockey and the Sharks. He was so excited when he told me about the trade. My dumb ass asked if he was as good as his cousin, Scott Thornton who played for the Sharks at that time. The look on his face as I asked that question is so hilarious in retrospect, like he was saying, "are you stupid?"
