It's YouTube music, which is showing popular "podcasts" on its explore page. Must be just because it's popular because nothing in my algo on either youtube or YouTube music would suggest this shit.

Is Andrew Wilson that smarmy “you lick snizz” guy? The one who thinks he’s a more clever version of Trey Parker but he’s really just a shitty little weasel baby version of Steve Bannon?

How capitalism claims to work: provide consumer with what they want

How capitalism actually works: provide consumer with what I want

I know this is rich coming from someone who wears a surplus Czech army field jacket, but that guy comes across as an annoying dweeb with that shitty ass crusader larp getup that looks like it cost less than the Mont Python and the Holy Grail horse budget.

This podcast recommendation nonsense is in Spotify too.

I've never listened to a podcast from Spotify and it's impossible to turn off the suggestions.

I'm thinking of switching to Deezer as I think they are a pure music service.

That guy is probably as incel as Trump is a common men's ally. And the images of women are carefully chosen to stoke the sexual frustration that the incels are incapable of resolving without resorting to violence.

Wtf with the pic ? How dumb must you be to take it seriously, right ? What do you think ?

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 4 points 1 month ago

That’s how all the thumbnails work now. Even HCR started a lighter version of it post Trump win, and she was very basic, straight up content prior.

Thumbnails/algorithm have killed hobby channels, like woodworking and sewing, all of it.

We need an “anti” algorithm slam on YT to fix it, but I doubt there are enough creators/makers/whatevers willing to engage such an operation en masse. Journalism/podcasts have always leaned on the present state of the algorithm.

The other issue is the thumbnails exist as they do due to the predominance of phone users over laptops/desktops. It’s a size thing. The thumbnail is designed for small phone screen reading.

God I wish podcasting equipment would electrocute people who touch it

Even when I agree with Andrew Wilson, he's such an asshole when making his point that it makes me want to disagree. It's like that with a lot of online debaters on the left too. They're not concerned with political activism or convincing anyone, just want some zingers to make their opponent look bad. One step away from a "yo mama" battle.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

He doesn't even make points. He reframes the debate, moves the goalposts, and tortures definitions in such a way that his carefully worded "stance" is basically a tautology, while proving absolutely nothing. It is the most astonishing intellectual dishonesty I have ever seen.

He's also a Christian nationalist fascist so fuck him twice.

Does that say it's a 10 hour video?!

I cannot recommend something like kreate or metrolist enough.

[–] wieson@feddit.org 4 points 1 month ago

YouTube music is the worst.

I entered "antifa playlist" into the search bar and got multiple ai generated full on nazi songs in my recommended.

[–] Binturong@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Hey that's that guy who can't open an olive jar!

[–] trackball_fetish@lemmy.wtf 4 points 1 month ago

Considering the templars pissed on the cross.. Lol

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's not an accident.

It's probably not a conspiracy.

If seeing that so much as pauses your scrolling, the algo counts that as "engagement," and that gets modeled into your profile for all of time. That's all it cares about, not incel stuff specifically... though rage bait happens to work very well, which is how these jerks make a living.

You might fix it with a new account from a different IP.
