One of the reasons r/NoLawns (and now the slrpnk One) got started was because I literally just want a cute little cottage with a front yard that looks like pic #2. Just... Don't ask me about the current state of my lawn...

And yes, I realize I'm posting this comment from not my slrpnk instance lol

I recently did this and the wild life and the beautiful plants around me had an awesome vibe.

I really dislike that we call "tradition" something that only really had a few gens. And that we get peer pursue from those dead souls that don't give fucks anymore.

Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people.

I just go back further and pick older traditions that fit with my world view.

The worst part is this “tradition” came out of a medieval flex by aristocrats.

Look here, I have fertile soil I don’t grow anything on near my manor (aka lawn). That’s how well I’m doing. My peasents are only barely starving.

Just stop applying herbicides to your lawn and enjoy the spring wildflowers before your first mow of the summer. It's addicting and soon you'll start letting the sides grow up natural and all the birds, bees, and butterflies move in and you'll want lawn less and less.

I do a no mow May. As in I don't mow until May and we got lots of daisies and geraniums. And then I leave a wild chunk of my lawn which has encouraged the dragon flies.

Lots of HOAs and city governments will fine you for doing this.

what is the point of it if I can't roll my tiny ball over it?
